Awww it's not bad at all 🙂🙂 I basically just got lucky with my RL friends, they're all ridiculously smart and supportive and even indulge my love of foreign music 😀 But you guys are awesome, I hope we all meet on the interview trail in a year!

Tman, it looks like NYC's actually going to get pounded by this storm, stay safe, okay? Don't go surfing like that dude in Virginia who got killed because he, well, went surfing in a hurricane 😱

Yeah, I hate that. My friends are generally not too date-y, so I don't have to worry about them too much. I think disappearing too soon after getting into a relationship signifies that the relationship is a little unhealthy...

I was looking forward to surfing the hurricane! 🙁🙁 Thank you! I'll try to stay safe 🙂 All my friends moved into school, but my parents are telling me to stay home until the storm passes...I'm just hoping the media is over-hyping it as usual. :xf::xf:

You're very lucky to have found friends that are as smart and supportive as you say. Pre-meds at my school are gunners from hell...with a vengeance...Everyones a pre-med in my major, which is why I'm thinking to swapping to a film studies major. Hopefully I'll meet some awesome people this semester in my film classes :luck:

I agree. Those relationships end up ending pretty quickly. I think it's best to introduce your significant other to your closest friends and spend time together. Helps build a stronger foundation so your friends and gf don't start hating each other :laugh:

Hahahaha I know bro, I was shocked to learn that a hurricane could actually kill you if you went out surfing in it :idea:

I know!! The majority of my friends are actually international students, believe it or not, but I've found that your best friends end up being the people who you just click the most with, and who are the kindest, no matter what. Out of my three best friends, only one is pre-med, but I wouldn't say any of my pre-med friends are TOO gunner-ish. Ugh, my Genetics and Biochemistry classes are going to be FULL of pre-med gunnercats. Statistics will have a nice mix, and Poetry Writing will hopefully be devoid of pre-meds, haha. I'm just depressed I can't take a Spanish class next semester 🙁🙁🙁 It's one of my two majors ,and I'm afraid I'm going to lose fluency due to the lack of classes offered next semester.

Invest in some rosetta stone. I hear it's pretty good for learning a second language 😀 I agree that your best friends end up being people you click with most, but I haven't really had that happen. I don't do that much on campus because I don't want to do it alone 😳 Hope the students in your genetics/biochem classes want to do research and not medicine 😀

Film studies would be a cool major. I don't know too many gunners in my school. The pre-med varieties at my school seem to be either neurotic workaholic pre-med, or party pre-med who wonders how the neurotic workaholics get good grades. 😛

Funny story: for one of my minors one semester, I took a class on Asian politics. There were gunners in that class, but not of the pre-med variety. The pre-law folks are a whole different breed. You should see them. They're able to BS off the top of their head for discussions/participation points/presentations ad nauseum. They got on my nerves, they were a strange species. :scared:

Haha, gunners are equally gunner in every field 😀 That's strange that there is a divide between the two types of pre-meds at your school...oh wait, same here 😛

Oh my god, the pre-law gunners are the WORST. My school actually has way more of those than pre-med gunners (you know how liberal arts colleges can be), and those kids are cray-cray. I've actually always done the whole "participate all the time" thing, but not because I want to earn points, but because I just like participating in class. Especially Spanish/English classes, those are fun. But yeah, they ARE a strange species, the things that come out of their mouths are... insane. Thank god I don't want to be a lawyer, at all.

Oh, I mean, I'm a Spanish major so I've finally achieved fluency, but I'm afraid I'll lose it if I don't take a class for a semester. The problem is that my school is offering only ONE Spanish class that I can even physically take, and it's a horrible one. It's a 200 level, whereas I took 300 levels last year, and it's a survey course... on topics that aren't interesting. It's basically a crap class. I don't know what to do 🙁

Yes, exactly! And it doesn't stop coming out, either! :laugh: I've always had trouble participating. Last fall semester, I took a 300-level history seminar with 25% participation. I got a B, and seeing as I aced most of the other assignments, I think the instructor gave me a bad participation grade. I tried. I just get nervous and shy. I will seriously hyperventilate and get tachycardic at the idea of participating sometimes. 😳

Bio. I don't particularly love it, but if I could never get into med-school for whatever reason, I'd probably try to figure out how to go to school for pharmacology. So it was either bio or chem or biochem, and I chose the one with the least math haha.

I'm doing minors in Asian studies and classical studies though, which has given me broad exposure to some cool subjects. A year studying Japanese, a Japanese art history seminar, a classics seminar, etc. Hard sometimes, but also very fun. 🙂

I wish I took Spanish. I took four year of Italian in high school. I was decent enough at it to place out of my school's language requirement. And then I took two semesters of Japanese. I never get to use either, so I fear they've leaked out of my brain. Spanish would've actually been useful haha.

I lost most of my knowledge of Spanish right after I stopped taking Spanish in HS. But if you continue reading stuff in Spanish and watching Spanish stuff like Telemundo, maybe it will help you retain your fluency.
