Buahahaha my summer fellowship IS really sexy. It's so crazy: you get to list your top three choices of departments (within community health research, clinical, translational, basic science--anything) and the admissions committee matches you with a preceptor within one of those departments. So you're conducting research with a department you chose, get to go on emergency medicine rotations, listen and present in evening presentations, AND take an abbreviated first-year anatomy course, complete with cadaver dissection. It's insane. I'm honestly so excited to go, and really humbled: the EAP acceptees work side-by-side with SURF (Summer Undergraduate Research Fellows) students for a lot of the stuff, and that program is crazy awesome. You basically get to be a mini med student for 8 weeks, and they pay you well and give you free housing. I mean, it's my dream fellowship 😱
YESSSS it has two student-run clinics called UR Well (hahaha very punny) that really let med students get pretty hands-on very early on. What's awesome about this school is that you start your Primary Care Clerkship your first year, and start clinical classes your first semester. I am SO doing UR Well as soon as I can get my hands on it, it's a clinic for the uninsured, and med students get access to it pretty much as soon as they start.
And yeah, my poetry teacher is being a horrible person. I might as well have written my poem in Chinese, for all he got out of it. I mean, even if it's bad, how could you be confused about EVERY SINGLE line. He literally put "I don't understand this" or "What do you mean by this?" next to every line of my poem. The odd thing is that I spelled it out for him the mandatory writing process reflection we're supposed to attach to the poem itself, where he requests that we spell it out for him. I'm confused as to how he could be that confused about my poem...
👍👍 Looks like you have a lot to look forward to! Sounds very exciting!🙂🙂
