She got a doctorate at Oxford. The X-Men never really had a resident doctor per say, although I do recall Nightcrawler being the medic on multiple occasions. Why is beyond me... Beast probably more often than not, too.

This is my greatest fear. I have yet to receive an ii from my top choice, but my last interview 12/6.

I agree. I have been on plenty, but I have not heard from my top choice and must prepare for the worst. Back to interview feedback I go. :barf:
 
I basically raced through most of my interviews in a one month period in September-October. For my interview in November, I was just completely out of the mindset for interviews and stumbled. Was a little tired with talking about myself. Got some amazing interview invites late in the season for January so hopefully I'll be able to step up my game again. I really should be starting to prep now...

I have one more scheduled Feb 13, which is two months from my last one, which was two months from basically what's my 'interview season.' I still haven't heard from 3 top schools but at this point if one of them reached out I might have to consider not going (2 would all require significant travel). I've definitely entered 'I'm done' mode.

It sucks that interviews work like that. All my mid-level schools have given me interviews. If I get a II at this point it's only from one of my top choices. I think I would have to go and see at the very least.

I think that's because he tried taking on the entire X men by himself, and he did a pretty good job of it since he knocked most of them out. Except for getting taken out by Wolverine at the end.

He's even taken on the entire Justice League on before, and lost only due to a slight fluke.

I hear back from my top choice this Wednesday and am hoping to be able to cancel my remaining two interviews (late January and early March)...

You did not just go there, bub! 😡 Haven't delved too much into Deathstroke, but he has some impressive feats. It's a tough call. Can promethium cut through adamantium?

EDIT: I would be all about delving into the text and pulling out citations to prove feats, but this is SDN... :laugh:

Nothing can cut through adamantium. That's the whole point of having adamantium.

I think I actually bumped into you at Cornell looking at your mdapps (interviewed same day). I definitely remember someone saying they were from your home institution. That was probably you.

Edit: It was when they made everyone introduce themselves at some point during the day. From the perspective of the head of the table I think you were sitting on the left in the middle and I was sitting on the right closest to the head of the table. I know... I remember the strangest things.

Eh don't worry, I don't even remember remotely what you look like. Interview days are hectic. I'm surprised how much I actually remember, that was the 2nd out of 3 interview days that week.

I've got 3 interviews this month and I haven't interviewed anywhere since at least November (I don't even remember anymore... wow)

Did a little research and while Deathstroke is now one of my new favorite characters from the DC universe (I know him better as Slade from the Teen Titans show. If you havent seen it I recomned it), Wolverine would p'wn Deathstroke. I mean come on Wolverine goes toe to toe with the Hulk with no assistance.

HA! You do know that Deadpool (Wade Wilson) is based off of Deathstroke (Slade Wilson), right? He's probably the only DC character that I've read books on.

I've also seen Teen Titans, which is a great show. Although my personal favorite would have to be either the original 90s X-Men cartoon or X-Men Evolution.

In any case, I agree that Wolverine has the edge here. Adamantium + healing factor + berserker rage = srsbsns

Did not know Deadpool was based off of Deadstroke, but it makes a lot of sense. Also I agree nothing beats the 90's X-Men cartoon. It stayed truest to its source material and was great from start to finish. All these revamps keep taking liberties with the characters that just aren't needed.

Re-watching some of the episodes, I can't believe that it was considered a "kids show" back then. Like... what? :laugh: Dark Phoenix saga was like the best thing to happen to my life. I'm kind of a huge Jean Grey fan boy... So glad she's "back" in the All-New X-Men books. 😍

Yeah some of the subject matter is surprising for a children's show: politics, racism, the concepts of freedom and inalienable rights. I'm finding all kinds of stuff I missed as a 9 year old. And the dark phoenix saga (and subsequintly everything they have ever done with the character of Jean Grey) quite frankly is still one of the best arcs marvel has ever made.

I just reached the early 90s (started at the very beginning) in my X-books (Uncanny, X-Men, Excalibur, X-Factor, X-Force, Wolverine), which is supposedly one of the best runs mutants have had; I can see why. Amazing artwork, great story, and great lineup of X-Men.

Jeebus, I wish I were an X-Man... 😛

Well the regenerative powers give him perpetual youth and a greatly extended life span (almost immortal really) so I imagine its pretty lonely.

I love wolverine, but I often wonder would the physics of super sharp blades that could cut through anything work in the real world. If there were such a thing as adamantium, the tension on his body would be incredible. I think he would need an amazing orthopedic surgeon for all the tendon/ ligament damage.

It's been stated before that Wolverine isn't at the top of his game due to the fact that his body has to constantly be healing due to the heavy metal poisoning from the adamantium and the strain it has on his body. X-23 doesn't have this problem since she just has the claws and could theoretically be the "better" Wolverine given the time and training.

Yeah but you'd think having every bone encased in adamantium would make it worth the extra strain. I still think he's the better bet in a fight...

Dude, you should download the classic wolverine comic when he is in Japan. I think it's like wolverine one or something like that. It's so good.
