From what I understand (correct me if I'm wrong), many private, non-dept of edu loans, like SallieMae, are not absolved by death, especially if you had a consigner. This has changed since Obama, though. Sucks for me: 100k in debt from private loans in undergrad 🙁 FML

Ugh I do love Michigan winters but honestly -20 with wind chill did me in this morning. It has been at least 30 minutes since I made it to my office and I still cannot feel my legs/feet...

Sallie Mae and some of the other big ones (wells Fargo) discharge on death or disability.

" Death and Disability: Sallie Mae provides loan forgiveness for a cosigner if the student borrower dies or becomes permanently disabled. If a student borrower becomes permanently and totally disabled because of a condition that began or deteriorated after the date he or she obtained the loan, we will waive all remaining payments on the loan. (Excludes those who lived in Alaska or Montana when they applied for the loan."

You could book it on southwest and not pay a change fee if you end up getting another ii.
