Class of 2017!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
oh boy a drink doesn't sound so bad after that exam...

on the bright side, I deadlifted 245 for 1x5 😀 Making progress slowly but surely

Typical Indians can probably only deadlift about 100lb.

You mean dl should skyrocket pretty fast? That's my favorite exercise. Nothing you do in the gym beats the feeling of doing some good deadlifts.
@ the oreos and bananas between sets: Damn man that sounds awesome. I'm on that low carb cut...that feel when lifting with glycogen depleted muscles >.<

nice! I hope you didn't hurt yourself too bad, stay safe brah. I might start doing 2x5 or 3x5. Stronglifts only says do 1x5 for deadlift but I'm pretty sure I can give a couple more sets lol

Yea your deadlift should be the fastest lift to go up when starting

In sets x reps x weight form

2 board press. 5x1x245
Squat 6x3x290
Overhead press 3x3x175
Snatch grip deadlifts 5x3x245 (these are actually super hard for me)
5 second pause bench 3x5x135 (kinda hard too )
Bench for reps 3x8x185
GHR 3x3
Curls 4x10x90. For the lulz

Ate 2 bananas and a ton of Oreos but felt great throughout the workout

like 95 lol I never found out my max. Actually, 245 isn't my max deadlift currently either, the routine I follow (stronglifts) has you increase the weight for deadlifts in increments of 10lbs from one workout to the next (the other lifts are in increments of 5). I have never tried maxing on deads so I don't know what the max I can do is yet. We'll cross that bridge when we get there though.

The basis of stronglifts is to start at pretty much the bare minimum (the bar) in order to learn proper form before you go to higher weights to prevent injury. I was pretty strong at the time, and I knew I could lift way more, but I suffered a herniated disc injury around this past june (non lifting related) so I really wanted to make sure I had my form right with everything I did to prevent further injury. You can read more about the program here: http://stronglifts.com/

See if they'll let you trial it for a month. Some gyms around here will if you ask.

Hmm. Not a bad idea. Wouldn't even take me long to ask every gym in town. There's only about 5. Lol

PSA: Anyone who is looking for a new show to watch should check out "House of Cards" on netflix. Just got done watching the first 2 episodes and it is excellent! Highly recommend it.

Edit: I can google it. Lol

My friend highly recommended it also but I am not sure I want to jump into a new show..just what I don't need  Maybe tonight..

I'm in a flippin' good mood tonight! Lol. I have a great job, great family, great friends, beautiful gf, and I've earned an acceptance to a medical school this fall.

Sorry for the random outburst, but I'm now home, a little buzzed, and decided to share. Ha.

Oh! And I'm headed to NOLA for the parades this weekend! The anesthesiologist I talked with is in one of the floats. Should be funny to see. 😀

Any 2017'rs know they want to do ortho? If so props to you! Did you mention it on the interview trail or keep it secret? I'm applying next year and I KNOW I am doing ortho for sure. Should I mention it in my app and on my interviews?

This will depend on the school where you're interviewing. And saying you know what your specialty is before you go to medical school will make you naive. Just say you have a strong interest ortho but will keep an open mind.

Granted. But I have done lots of shadowing and I am sure that ortho is what I want. I don't see why I can't be set in ortho going into med school when SO many are set on primary care. Why the double standard??

Accepted! Yeeeeaaaahhhh!!!! :soexcited:

Congrats and welcome aboard!

Cs Head, the MMIs went extraordinarily well aside from the 1:1. I had a psychiatrist intentionally trying to rattle me. He succeeded at the end. :/ Hopefully I did well in his eyes.

As for the gym? Man, I've been slacking the past couple months. Can't wait to get back, either. At least I've kept the weight off.

Gym time!!!

Just thought people be aware:
From my advisors
This is a reminder that on February 10, AMCAS-participating medical schools will be able to begin accessing Multiple Acceptance Data. This means that from this point forward in the 2013 AMCAS application cycle, medical schools who have offered acceptance to an applicant may also see at which other institutions that same applicant has also been offered and currently holds an acceptance.

Beginning on April 1, medical schools will have access to the National Acceptance Report, which lists all applicants who have been offered and currently hold an acceptance at any U.S. AMCAS-participating medical school.

A list of all schools that an applicant applied to is never visible to medical schools through AMCAS.

So they can see which schools have given you an offer of acceptance, but can NOT see which schools you applied to?
