Seriously, he has got some issues.

On a side note, I was going to go to my great grandma's 103rd birthday today. However, the passes in WA are getting 31 inches of snow this weekend. Looks like I am staying here and missing all the celebrations until next year.

Don't worry, she told us when she was 98 that god appeared in her dream and said she would die after her 105th birthday. So there are still two more that I can go to.

I bet grandma parties like there's no tomorrow.

Not until her 105th

Haha

:meanie:

Well, god said she would take communion and then she would lower her head in prayer. After she finishes making her last confession, she will pass away.

If it actually happens, I will become the most religious person in the world.

Interesting. I'd like to think some of the dreams I have would come true someday... :naughty:

Same. I'm not sure what I believe, but something like that would sway me back towards religion

+1 That's a bit more than statistical coincidence.

I wish work had a spring break...I guess if I was a Prof or teacher I could have a spring break. Meh.

I have a spring break since I work for the university, but I wish I didn't. I don't get paid for the break!

Ouch, bummer. At least a Prof/Teacher has their pay pre-set, albeit usually monthly.

Well one of my jobs, the instructor one, is salaried. It is the research one with no undergrads staying around. We close for the week. That is paid hourly, so I just lose out.

Check out the locked thread in the WAMC forum. There was a very quick and abrupt escalation of events...

(Courtesy of the latest Supernatural)

In better news, I just got an e-mail saying that two of the abstracts I worked on over the summer are being submitted to the FACS conference. 🙂

Time to catch on Supernatural.. stupid studying for tests this week. 👎

I want a spring brake too! I'd even settled with having a spring... but that's not coming for another 2 months (if ever...).I am not into this winter thing.

Same for my wife. She works at the university and we won't get paid for that week. She may get some freelance work in Vegas that week though. If so, big $$$$!

Whaaaat. I work for a university and don't get spring break off! I work in Student Affairs too...

Hey Doctor Strange. Do you cover all aspects of pharmacology? Like, do you study numerous drugs in each physiological system?

If by numerous drugs, you mean multiple drugs within a pharmacological class, then generally no. The way it works is that we get several prototypical drugs that are used to treat a certain disease via a certain mechanism. For example, we just did antihypertensives, which entailed going over a prototypical beta-blocker, CCB, ACE inhibitor, diuretic (then five sub-types of diuretics), ARB, and renin inhibitor. The important points for each of these drugs is the biochemical MOA, the tissue MOA, and the MOA-derived adverse effects.

Wow, pretty interesting. Also, are all those only covered in the advanced course you're currently taking?

Also, did you study thiazides?

Why are we talking about school in this thread?

Pharmacology is a required course for my major, and it is actually the same pharmacology course that the PharmDs at my school take (it's a 400-level course). In addition to that, I have toxicology which is separate from the PharmDs that goes more in-depth into drug toxicities and adverse effects along with other toxicants that can cause pathological effects (again looking at biochemical and tissue MOAs). PharmDs take the other half of that, which is pharmacotherapeutics, covering more specific clinical parameters (indications, doses, etc.).

Yes, we did look at thiazides, which was one of our sub-classes of diuretics.

Why are we talking about school in this thread?

Slow day?

I dropped them right outside of the microbio lab... I decided to just toss them instead. 🙁

Thanks for the sympathy. You guys are the best. <3

I just rolled: someone in cowboy boots and a ten gallon hat just boarded an elevator with me while his cell phone rang to "the good, the bad, and the ugly." Classic!! You can't make this shizzy up! It was so hard to hold in the laughter until he got off on his floor. I still laugh every time I remember it as I walk the wards, looking like a looney. Hahahaha

I actually had signed up for that course and failed the first exam. I dropped the course right before the deadline.

Really? I thought it was pretty easy. I'm actually TAing it right now.

I withdrew. Do you think the W on my transcript will cause medical schools to rescind my acceptances?!
