Class of 2017!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
EK is pretty cheap so it won't hurt your wallet. BR will cost you around 230 bucks or so. They are super slow when ordering hence the reason why I purchased off of Ebay.

$230? like for one book? For example do i have to buy one book for general chem 1 and one for general chem 2, or are they together? etc..

For the entire set. The subjects are broken down into two books each. So 2 books for gen biology, 2 books for gen chem, 2 books for physics, 2 books for ochem...

lol you know they gave up 😛

but yea ill def check them out. How are the prac tests in the book? Are they laid out like the mcat, but just for that specific subject/section I'm assuming.

for ek, after each lecture on a subject, you have a 30 minute test structured like the Mcat at the back. so i usually read the chapter then do the practice test, then go back to review what i missed on the test. the test is somewhat supposed to be harder than the real deal. that is what the Arthur's of Ek said and that is what they are saying on the mcat forums too. then they have a full length exam covering every question on the mcat but i don't like it. i prefer the aamc full lengths. they are better representation of the real deal according to the mcat forums.

It is pretty boring. I've already taken a class on the Enlightenment and might have to take a class still about the Revolutionary Wars. We are covering the FR right now in my 18th and 19th century history class.

Edit: TOP :hardy:

wooah that's a lot. keep it up and good luck :luck:

How would you compare BR to the full lengths?

So far EK is easier than TPR which is easier than BR.

Yea i def heard that. ppl sometimes don't do as well on the prac tests but then they do the AAMC and do better etc...

When you mean lecture you mean reading? Do any of them come with a cd or something.

EK has their Osmosis CDs. They are really cheezy and only cover the topics superficially. However, they do help me remember some things.

yeah like EK bio has 8 chapters. for example chapter one is all about molecular bio and cellular respiration, so after reading it, the 30 minute test is based on that chapter to access your comprehension of the material. there are 8 CD's for the EK. it is called the audio osmosis. it is good for reviewing concepts in your car, at the gym just places you can't study.

I totally have faith in you. I think that you are going to rock it.

when it comes time for me studying, I'll update y'all 😉

prob studying next year, but idk i feel like it would be a good idea to at least start some EK books on the subjects i already taken and do it slowly along the way, because when it comes time for me to study, won't have a good enough gap before i take the real thing.
hmm good idea?

is there only one prac test for each chapter, i might need more then that.

I think that it sounds like a good idea. At least you can see what the questions are like.

yea exactly, because I don't want to start real fresh when it comes time, ill be busy applying/taking courses etc.

Yeah, like I won't be taking it until 2012. I need a longer period to study because of FT work, school, and kids.

sadly yes, but that is where aamc comes in. you just have t read those chapters and understand then take the aamc test to see improvements.

kk so it's good to read the chapters multiple times and take the prac test in the book, then go back make corrections, do that for every single subject then take an AAMC prac test.

sounds pretty intense..

usually takes me 3 hours a day. sometimes 5 if i need more understanding

my first aamc with some little studying, i scored a 8,8,7 on the BS,PS,VR respectively but for BR, is scored 6,4,5

Yea it's good to see where you stand with little studying. That'll be crazy if you scored high as hell lmao. no studying for me.....

damn, i gotta get this thing going.

the only prereqs ill have left are bio 2/physics 2/ochem 1/2. But I mean is that good enough to start without those?

yea i was thinking of submitting on June and taking the MCAt later around June-july 2012. i mean it's not that late.

wait till you get bio down. then i guess you can wait for physics 2

For reals? cuz

Fall semester: bio 2/ochem1
Spring semester: physics 2/ochem 2

then most likely starting May I'll need to start studying i guess, then submit in June and take the real thing JUne-July

it is doable. just make sure you try your best to grasp everything in your classes now. it will help you later. i'm off to study, might be back in 2 hours

Good plan.

Had a gunner conundrum tonight. I received some materials that will assist greatly in doing orgo lab reports and quizzes from someone who took it over spring. Assuming I don't mess anything up during the procedures, I've got an easy 95+% on all my reports now.

Option A: keep everything to myself, beat the curve, easy A
Option B: share with other people in the class, risk my own high grade

20 people in my class and 15% get an A. Decided to compromise and share materials with a good friend and his gf from my class. Hopefully we are the three that will get A's :xf:

Gunners gonna gun.
