Anyways I'm goin out. was fun joining this thread for a bitty. Maybe I come back on lata

While this is commendable, I think it's a little easy for us young adults with fast metabolism and ample time for fitness/diet to point fingers at other people. My metabolism is still high, I could easily go the gym 7 days/week if I wanted to, and I have time to prepare all of my meals at home (or at least I could if I wanted to).

Honestly until I have a stressful job that takes up a lot more of my time and a family to deal with I'm not going to judge the sacrifices others have made too harshly. And this is all before we even get into the specifics of the genetic factors of obesity etc etc etc. For all you know he's trying hard to lose weight and does more cardio than you do.

True. I don't know his whole story, but in his business, one has to be aware of the image one projects.

How much sugar do you consume everyday

Honestly... I have no idea. I don't drink sodas, nor do I eat junk. I'm not a sweets person, but I'm sure I get it somewhere. I limit carbs and increase protein, but I do love breads! Lol.

Why do you ask?

On that note, time to go get my swole on.

:naughty:

You're probably going to have to tell patients to keep track of how much carbs they're consuming daily. You should start keeping track.

Also do you hydrate adequately? Eat the recommended servings of fruits and vegetables?

It's farfetched to expect doctors to abide by all their recommendations.

While I agree that it is farfetched, I do not believe that t is too much for a physician to maintain a certain level of health. Is this a hot-button issue for you? I'm not saying physician have to be saints, but they should do their best to live by the advice they give, i.e., eat healthy, exercise, don't smoke, etc.

Guys I need your honest opinion here: who's going to take doctors seriously who can't model for others how to properly maintain health? I had this fat orthopedist once telling me why I had shin splints. I couldn't take his advice.

This is exactly why I'm trying to use my free time to get into shape. I've lost about 30lbs so far (thanks to typical Indian and his awesome diet plan). Going to use this time to build a solid routine and develop good eating habits so that when medical school starts I won't fall off the wagon.

"eat healthy" is such a nebulous phrase. As a doc you'll have much more concise advice and that's where the problem comes in. You're going to talk about specific things like servings of fruit, but you yourself don't keep track of it. So the whole "practice what you preach" thing is not as simple as you think it is.

Eating healthy is not just about avoiding " bad" foods. It's also about having a complete diet from a nutrition standpoint. If you aren't keeping track of your macros at bare minimum then you really have no idea if you are "eating healthy".

Not to mention my OMM class requires I be most nude. Lol. (Only sports shorts allowed.)

I don't know what this conversation is about, but there's no way in hell I'm giving up Coke.

Coke is a helluva drug 😉

So I got a free Guinness pint glass at the bar tonight. I ordered Guinness, but they only had it in cans and of course it's a crime to serve it like that so they poured it for me and I got the glass out of it. Not too shabby.

+1

I'm on a ~weeklong streak of staying up past 4 am 😳

Man, I wish I could get away with that these days. Unfortunately I'd probably cut my hand open in a cryostat full of unfixed human tissue. :scared:

That, or just fall asleep on the keyboard while "reading up on the literature". 😎

Damn it's like two hours after my bed time and I am on the west coast....had to pick up my brother at LAX. Why is LAX such a horrible airport?

out of all the airports that I have been to LAX is by far the worst!

Cryostat's are crazy sharp. Best operated while sober.

Yeah it is. I had a connecting flight there and we had to land at a different terminal than planned. I ended up being on the exact opposite side of the airport and had to run out of the terminal, around the giant loop because the buses were not running at 1 AM, into the other area and through security. My flight departed at 2:30 AM. I barely made it.

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! I never fly into LAX anymore because of that.

LAX isn't that bad, I've never had any problems with it. Granted, I've only ever been in there twice but still.

Marnin' folks! It's Friday!

Time to do some catching up instead of work. LoL

All of my flights out of LAX (this is 3+ times mind you...) are always delayed by 1+ hour and/or require a new plane because of accidents/faults/technical issues...

I need to start flying into John Wayne or Burbank (oh wait... except the rental cars are cheaper at LAX fml)

I like the LAX towers, the colors are so pretty 🙂 I usually go to Little Tokio before going to LAX so I associate the airport with ramen 😛 and my last flights have been very smooth...

Good morning! Everything is white today...

Whiskey>>>>Rum>Tequila>vodka
That about sums it up. I'm a Whiskey and Scotch fan and only drink the clear liquors in mixed drinks (e.g., bloody marys).
I like Mezcal & Pulque too, but from those 4 I'd pick tequila.
Dude, I love Mezcal! Every time I'm in Mexico I bring back a few bottles.
ftfy.

:ninja: Do you always do white text? Now I feel like I should be quoting all of your responses.

Edit: Unexpected TOP!

Love that pic, any idea where it's from?
👍 Flaming hot Cheetos are mine too.

You can combine the two in flaming hot Funyuns. 😱

Have you tried the XXtra hot Cheetos?! :corny: So good but I can only eat a few at a time.
I love the XXtra hot Cheetos! But they're so tame for me. I often eat sauces/foods with a 500,000 scoville unit rating. I am a spice NUT.
Ever give a shot of 151 to someone who does not drink?

. . .
Hahaha, I hope she didn't mess up that presumably pretty face of hers.

LizzyM: The Movie
The exact thought I had when I saw that trailer on TV.

Mmm, so jelly!
Well, thank you for your service...

No, my bladder is quite strong and I didn't have to go... until I read the post about a member being female military officer (when I thought it was a male private).... It all changed from there. 😳
One word, homie: Depends. :naughty:
basketball coaches get old, they can't maintain that same level. Doctors should be drinking water instead of Coca cola every day...Especially the ones who deal with diabetic patients
Bah, there was a thread that debated this issue extensively if anyone's passionate enough to rehash an argument. Some people have other health issues that contribute to obesity rather than 2/2 dietary indiscretion and lackof exercise. Even so, it's all about perception. If the pt doesn't like it, s/he'll go elswhere. I don't mind. I mean, hell, look at how much the majority of us all drink. We'll have to advise our pts to abstain from alcohol while we go out later that night a toss back a few (albeit far less than we're tossing now).

My PI is extremely large. I see what she eats, too. It's definitely 2/2 post-partum hormonal insufficiency.
Well... I just got banished from the 2018 thread.

. . .
LoL, it'd be funny if someone actually hacked the forum to prohibit you from posting. I used to fun stuff like that when I was a pre-teen and teenager. Had to stop when I hit 18 for fear of legal repercussions.

Aaaaaaand, caught up!

Yeah, LAX really is the worst. Luckily Burbank is so close.

LAX isn't that bad, I've never had any problems with it. Granted, I've only ever been in there twice but still.

Take our word for it... lol

False. O'Hare is by FAR the worst. LAX is fine unless you're driving IMO. I've never had a problem and have been through that airport more times than I can count.

How are you not driving if you are in SoCal? The reason why I despise LAX is because the traffic is ridiculous at all hours of the day. Picking anyone up is an absolute headache. Also the fact that all there are like 8 separate terminals with their own security is frustrating. I once showed up to an international flight 3 hours early and BARELY made it on my plane. And LAX lost my checked luggage(didn't get through security screening before my plane left). That airport is a circus. The fact LAX is about an hour from where I live just makes me hate it even more.

😍 John Wayne. So easy to get in and out. Security takes like 2 minutes. Also much easier to get to from where I live.

Hmm good point. I was at O'Hare twice this past year... both flights were delayed, and one was so delayed I missed my connecting flight. I don't know if it's the actual airport, the unpredictable weather, or a combination of both. As for LAX, I guess I was primarily referring to the traffic. Still, Burbank >>>>>> LAX. You can even board on both sides of the airplane there so boarding takes half as much time!

Going to disagree with the traffic part. Never had a problem with traffic around LAX between 10-1pm. Small window I know, but I plan wisely when I go to hell.

Never had any problems at O'Hare, but I try and schedule connections away from there on purpose.

Whaaaaat I routinely come in at night and the traffic is horrible! I was there at 10:30 last night and it took 40 minutes to get around the loop...on a Thursday night. I wish this was abnormal too. :scared:

Only flew out of O'hare maybe once so not sure how bad that airport is.

The shortest runway in the US! It's fun (and a little scary) to fly out of John Wayne.

I thought Burbank had the freakishly short runway? Anyways yeah John Wayne is fun to fly out of because as this website explains:

The short runway, coupled with local noise restrictions, requires a takeoff at or near full power, followed by a steep climb, a sudden reduction in power, and two turns closely following the Upper Newport Bay.

Pilot holds brakes, hits engines at full throttle, climbs steeply and cuts engines right at freeway, causing the plane to drop like a roller coaster.

People routinely freak out.
