Whoa! I took the personality test first. Supposedly I'm an ENFP (80% extrovert, 38% intuition vs sensing, 38% feeling vs thinking, and 11% perceiving vs judging)

Specialty results:

Psychiatry
Dermatology
Otolaryngology
Psychiatry
Pediatrics


Yeah, psychiatry is on there twice for some reason.
No twice to psychiatry, no to peds, sure to derm but I prob won't have the grades for it. I'd be cool with any surgical specialty I guess.

But no to psychiatry and peds. Just, no.

wonder how high that is?

I can jump out of the water in my girlfriends apartment pool which is 3 and a half foot in the shallow end but too scared to try it onto land lol.

A con of taking days off: having to submit reports on a Monday that were not due until Friday. #firstworldproblems

Peds interests me but a specialty like pediatric onc might be a little too sad. I did some shadowing with a pediatric oncologist and his take was the bad days are really bad but they cure more than they lose and have more good days than bad. I could see that field being very rewarding at times but extremely difficult at others.

But this is too deep for a Monday morning...here's something to lighten the mood...

Peds seems like the specialty for me. I mean, I already work with kids for a living so why not continue it as a doctor right?
 
I really don't know what to do about housing, because I have absolutely no idea what the odds are of me getting off of the waitlist at my top choice. Looks like I'll be living in a motel the week before school starts.

Not a single thing, it's pretty frustrating 🙁 I can only speculate based on some skilled (/obsessive) internet observation. The previous years' threads on SDN get pretty dead during the summer, so it's hard to tell if there's much movement beyond what is being reported. I'm trying to stay optimistic. I do know that the UCI Class of 2017 facebook group has 150ish people in it, but that more than half of those people are current UCISOM students (Class of 2016, 2015 etc.). It's also kind of encouraging that they invited a few waitlisters to revisit -- though it would be more encouraging if I was one of those invited 😉
