Class of 2017!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I have spent my evening learning the brachial plexus.....so much drawing....

Brachial plexus already? We did all of superficial and deep back before that.
That plexus was tough for me until I drew it and explained it to others so many times. Now it's kind of...fun? Lol

My laptop came in today. Holy cow is it big! I had a 17 inch my freshman year, but this 15 inch seems like it is the same screen size! Plus, it is so light!

However, the 12 hour battery life is definitely not true. With wifi turned off and the screen dimmed to the minimum, the battery life is 9 hours. If I have the brightness turned up to a moderate level and have wifi on, the battery lasts 7 hours.

Wait, remember me what kind of computer you got again...

Haha yeah we jumped right in yesterday. Already did the back. Fortunately I got it down though. Once you draw it about 100000 times with all the branches you literally have all the muscles and innervations which is nice.

I got a Sony Vaio and it came with a free external sheet battery.

And I actually liked the brachial plexus when I learned it in undergrad. The only hard part for me was remembering which was musculocutaneous, so I always remembered it as the one that I couldn't remember the name.

So... Anyone else gunning for AOA?

I've already distributed "accurate" study guides for the first exam.

So many formal events put on by the city, the state, and other agencies "welcoming" new medical students. Lots of free food. They say positive things about us and it's flattering, but all I can think about is studying. Haha.

Haha I've heard of that happening. I imagine they were jumped after anatomy lab one cold night though...

was just about to head off to bed but realized I didn't update my SDN status to "medical student" yet. Obviously had to come here and do that now. Hope everyone's school year is starting off well!

My class schedule was just posted today and I discovered we have Sunday Biochemistry small group meetings...

What? Class on Sundays?

One of our docs said I look like a gunner. So I have that going for me, I guess.

Ouch that sucks. 🙁

But on the bright side: biochemistry is fun to study! Although I'm biased because my undergrad biochem oddly resembled that of med school biochem (i.e. we didn't memorize mechanisms of pathways, but just the substrates and enzymes and the pathologies associated with enzyme deficiency)

Anyone else having as much fun as I am? We got to use bone saws today... felt powerful. Considered ortho Surg for like 5 mins. Ha.

I wore a white coat for the first time today. Then I saw my lecture schedule for the year.

Considering becoming an orderly now.

How adorable. You're reading the textbook.:meanie:

Yeah we have daily quizzes that guide the lecture... So I have to read the material for that day BEFORE going to lecture that day otherwise my pass/fail grade will suffer

First day of actual class tomorrow.

Time for some good old fashioned unranked pass fail gunning.

Too bad you didn't choose UW. I went on a huge hike today, came home and played video games and have drunk beer for the last three hours. There's still like three weeks left until orientation.

It's pretty great. I'm going river rafting in a few days.

Also foolishly trying to teach myself guitar for the first time, wish me luck.
