Class of 2017!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I'm looking at the amount of information I need to study for this next set of exams, and for the first time ever, I really just want to phone it in. Half ass all of it. Grades be damned.

I am burnt out.
I'm with you. Also eating sub 200g carbs most days isn't helping my general mood. Currently digging into a big plate of whole grain linguine since it's re-feed day, though.

At least the weather is slowly improving. The one day where it was above 50 degrees, I was in such a good mood. Now it's cold and snowy again, and I couldn't be grumpier.

Same here!! All I want to do is pass my exams next week and go to bed. It's strange bc this block probably has the easiest material, but much larger volume than what we've had to date. And it's just sh tty...literally. Studying diarrhea on a Friday night did not make me doubt my life choices at all.

This pic could not be more perfect. This "polar vortex" is killing me! I need spring and sunshine so badly.

Studying for an 8 week final that spans 3 days after having the flu for 2 of the 8 weeks... I now know what it means to drink from the proverbial fire hose.

I have done exactly zero school things in the last two days. Recharging, cleaning my room, doing laundry, grocery shopping. Getting everything in order before charging into 12 days of finals madness. Calm before the storm.

Medprom last night. Open bar.

That is all.

We have ours in 2 weeks. Excited to look pretty for the first time since winter break. Haha

In other news, block exams start in 2 days and they just kicked us out of the lib bc of the stupid weather.

Bump. Also, I'm getting scared of the idea of being done with first year.

It has gone by so fast!! I can't believe we only have 2 blocks left. Still trying to get stuff lined up for the summer, but TBH I would really love to just enjoy the last break I'm going to have for a very, very long time.

What scares you about being done with first year?

Being 1 full year closer to Step 1, 3rd year, graduation, residency, etc. That and knowing that second year is significantly more difficult than first year.

Well, when you put it that way...

JK, I hear ya! Watching the 2nd years start to panic about step 1 is freaking me out.

More than a 1/4 of our class failed the exam we took earlier this week. It was rough. Just need to get thru this anatomy exam over the abdomen tomorrow and then SPRING BREAK

I'm pretty scared that it went by so quickly. Like holy frak.

But before that, I need to worry about being done with Neuro. F this entire block.

Neuroanatomy: terrible subject or the worst subject of all time?

For the most part, I enjoy it. Anki is a savior.
Oh, I know mostly everything. It's just a matter of telling them what it is on the cadaver. We've had no prosections and all of the cadavers for the jokes of dissections we did were extremely dried out so it was nigh-impossible to learn anything.

If it's telling them the difference between V3 or if it's split into the auriculotemporal, lingual, nerve to mylohoid or inferior alveolar I might be in trouble because it's just one big crapshoot at this point. We have a mock practical on Saturday so that should hopefully help me orient myself.

1 more week until spring break! Calling it quits on studying tonight.

This was a problem for me too. Glad it's over!

I have this idea that neuroanatomy is so hyped up by everyone that when I start my neuro block I'll spend extra time studying it (out of fear), which will result in it seeming as if it really isn't that bad.

But I'll probably prove myself wrong when I start neuro in 6 weeks.

It's probably not so bad. We just started and watching lectures I have no idea what's going on. When I sit down and make myself actually learn it might be ok...hopefully.

It's honestly not that bad to learn it, but the time it takes to adjust to all of the nomenclature and junk is annoying. That and everything is so densely packed, plus you inevitably find another branch you need to know of a nerve that was never mentioned before. Our Anatomy instructor was terrible though, so there's that too.

That moment you realize it was a great idea to not sign up for clinic the night after finals :zip:

That moment when I've done that before.....

I start my neuro block in 1.5 weeks. Not looking forward to it. We are finishing up MSK this week (finals week), and everyone says neuro is much more difficult than MSK.

Damn, MSK to neuro is heartless.

I've heard that Dr. Najeeb's neuro anatomy lectures are really good.

Uh oh, these are the first 2 blocks of 2nd year. We have renal/endocrine and sex/repro left.

It is. We transitioned identically. I really miss MSK.. Neuro is just its own kind of beast and it'll take time to get used to all of the terminology and abstract thinking. IMO, I find it difficult because you can't really visually comprehend things in Neuro - there's a lot of pure memorization which I've always sucked at.

We've got Cardiopulm next, and in comparison to Neuro it should be much better.

I just realized that this is the 8th school year I've had where I've learned about ADH. If we talk in more detail about it next year (I'm sure we will), then it goes up to 9.

Ugh! I totally had advance screening passes for 300 and I couldn't go because I had exams this week. I passed on watching CGI'd 6 packs for 2 hours so I could study about vitamin deficiencies and diarrhea.

Ultimate life choices fail.
