Class of 2017!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
you guys talking about these courses makes me look back on them. My orgo 1 class was 100 people we have 1 test per chapter (about 4-5). My orgo 2 class was the same with 1 test per chapter.

I WISH we had quizzes! I would have been happy.

Being on here makes me feel like a failure. I am disappointed in a C.. a B for me is normal and good and a A is a dream come true.

Though, I have never been someone that studies real well or cared about school all that much. Which could account for the GPA I have, but am working on changing.

It's okay. You and I are alike...although we're both in trouble against the gunners irl

👍 That's what I like about 2017! I wish that we all went the same school. That would totally rock.

I had my first test on Thursday. I should hear how I did on it on Tuesday. :scared:

:xf::xf::luck::luck: You're gonna get 100!

You are here, and that is what counts! Different schools have different expectations. Anyone who is able to take organic chemistry is probably really smart. It's when a whole bunch of smart kids get together is when some of us start feeling insecure. 🙁

I wish that I had quizzes too! We have a total of six exams for this semester. That seems like a lot of tests to me.

Congrats on making it through ochem! 🙂

Woah! You guys have a lot of tests 😱 I had only 3 tests+final for both orgo 1 and 2.

Everyone should rate this thread 5 stars to show all the haters how awesome we are 😀

Ugh the IRL Gunners some one was just talking about (I forget who posted it).

So I'm friends with some of the people at my undergrad's BS/MD program, where you had to be a high school gunner to get accepted essentially (I'm not in it). They asked me how I did on the MCAT and now they act like different toward me, just because I scored better than them. Ugh, they already have a seat at a medical school, WHY THEY SO MAD?

Because you're getting into a better school than them...I'm assuming. People like them will be angry at someone doing better than them even if they were guaranteed a fellowship for derm or something.

mee too mee too! please santaaaaaa 😍

lol wut? whyyyyy???!? that's sooo lame. i don't understand people gunning against each other if you're in different years either. 😕 like it's not going to help you get into classs of 20XX if I'm in class of 20YY.
Yeah, like really! 🙂

6 does seem like a lot! Yeah ochem was interesting to say the least. We had a good professor that taught us life lessons during ochem 😀

Haven't We all!

Yeah that would tick me off too!

I like life lessons. 🙂

yea the only ones i have are in my integrative neuroscience class... lame..

none in my ochem class, but i signed up for some course that has no credits and its group led for ochem👍 hopefully that helps a lot, got one for physics too.
That's pretty cool.

I think one vote for one account is how it works. I've tried voting on multiple computers with no luck on increasing our star count. lol 🙂

👍 Exactly. 🙂

It's a lot easier to understand the material when someone who took the course guides you through it in layman terms  I've always liked how awesome my TAs were. I'd be a TA for every class if I could to pass on the tricks I've learned.

🙁🙁 It's okay. You're already one of the best parts of this thread. 🙂🙂

:laugh: You always make me laugh, studyshy <3
Are you really married IRL?

Forget about c/o 2019 and come apply early and be with us
I agree! 🙂

Woah! You guys have a lot of tests 😱 I had only 3 tests+final for both orgo 1 and 2.
I thought 6 was a lot too!

You're gonna get 100!
I'll settle for anything over 90% Please please please!

Glad you could join.
I agree! 🙂

I'd take your class over my 1000 student classes any day. 😛
It's kind of neat, I'll have to admit, taking a class with just a handful of students!

I am not married ...or am I?

You are so sweet! That's why I like it here. I'm older, but you guys still treat me good! 🙂

Yeah, I must get back to work...and writing papers...and drawing boats and chairs!

😍😍
I've got nothing but love for awesome people like you 🙂

Ello guys.

I've been listening to the new MCR CD all day and writing a story. Basically, my favorite hobbies. If I could run at the same time my life would be complete XD

You're really lucky about your small class. My high school was tiny (<300) so all my science classes had no more than 15 students. It gave me a great base for all the other stuff I would learn in college in classes of 300-400 -__-"

Anyways, I recently learned that my school was finally giving us a month off for Winter Break (unlike the usual 2 weeks) so I've decided I'm going to start studying for the MCATs then. Sigh. I'm excited but nervous, I already just want to get it over with. The only thing I'm truly afraid of is Bio. I can attempt to review and retain GChem because Chemistry is my forte (hence why it's my major....) but Bio and I don't get along. I love it, it hates me. I don't enjoy memorizing, I'm more of learn stuff/apply it kinda person. You don't really apply bio until you actually become a doctor. Oh the irony.

So when December rolls around I probably won't have the same nonchalant attitude, what with the 50lb wait of stress that's going to fall on me. :scared:

I've noticed a lot of people mentioning that the bs section is more and more like verbal where you have to mostly analyze the passages to answer the questions. From the experience today, I agree with that. All the passage based questions required analysis of the passages+applying and the discretes were...discretes. I'm sure this would play to your advantages. 🙂 Since you'll have the PS section down, you'll just have to put in more time for BS where you feel weak.

I signed up to start up my MCAT studying with a practice MCAT on October 15th 😀 Should be interesting!

That makes me feel better then, I can analyze the heck out of anything after writing 7 pages papers about 10 lines of poetry (English minor, I am). Analyze every freakin' word XD

Anyhow we'll see. I'll try not to stress too much about it until then.

Yeah I am getting a base line to see how I do to see what I need to do to get myself on the right track.

Most likely I am going to had to brush up on my Ochem a lot... I don't remember much of it and I haven't been in a Chem class for two semesters now 😀

Anyways.. trying to sleep is horrible when you are sick. I slept all day so now I can't sleep!

Usual was 3 weeks at our school 😛 but this 4 week break is going to be awesome! Are you able to tke the bio classes as a Chem major? If you need recommendations on upper div classes then let me know. Also I took Chem 128 for personal interest and loved it.....interesting class that introduces a lot of bio subjects for Chem majors.

Also -side question- have you taken or tutored for larc?

How's new york treating you? It was supposed to rain all week, but since you came here it stopped raining. It must be the leprechaun. Oh yeah! You never gave me the leprechaun...now I'm doomed 🙁 I had an MCAT dream last night...so weird...

My high school was mid to large sized (2,000 students), however I only ahd classes with the same 20-40 people it seemed. A lot of my classes were small and got spoiled by all the attention.

I like a mixture of both, though -large and small classes. Sometimes it is nice just to be a number and sit back. However, it was also nice to take chemistry last semester while sitting at a round table. Kind of cool.

I 😍 NYC. I wish I could live here.

Tman: how did your MCAT go yesterday???????!!!!! Did you end up scoring it/feeling okay about it?

Ahhhh this semester is going to be crazy. I'm taking this statistics class with an absolutely crazy prof... we'll see how that goes. He's also brand new. And teaching this stats class next semester too, so I have no choice but to take it now.

And I wrote my first poem for the poetry writing workshop 😍

As much as those lyrics make me cringe, I have to say it's pretty catchy...

128.8 this morning.

hoping for 126/127 by next sunday.

LETS DO THIS

It felt like two weeks XD
I'm not able to enroll in Bio classes but I plan on sitting in Bio E109, and maybe we'll see if I could talk to some people about getting in once the quarter gets rolling. Some Bio classes I can get in and am interested in taking next year are M121, E165, E124 which are all interesting subjects. I'm trying to keep this year free-ish, since I'll be taking P-Chem and Inorganic, don't really have room for fun bio lol
I actually plan on taking Chem 128 next year as well!

BTW since I'll be taking all these science classes probably after I apply, how does that work with the AMCAS? Do you update them later on or...? I mean, it's nbd right now and I don't think I can change how I've set up my schedule for the next 2 yrs. Unless it turns out I enjoy Pchem and Inorganic and can handle bio with it (Hah!).

Oh and to answer your question, I have no yet tutored for larc but I was thinking of it to depending on how I'm handling everything else I'm up to.

so on a more related note, has anyone actually taken their MCAT yet? August 6th taker here.

Sounds like sweet experiences. I was in a small HS (<400 students) and now I'm in a huge university. Don't feel at home 🙁

It wasn't too bad, imo, but that could just be me overlooking things. I noticed in the 9/10/11 test thread everyone said it was super hard. There were some really tough/confusing passages, but I just assumed they were experimental or something 😛 Hope I can score a 28+ I probably wouldn't retake unless I some how amazingly increase my GPA...
Seems like your semesters off to a good start. I'm assuming when you say it's gonna be crazy you mean it'll be super awesome!
