I'll do you one better. Failed every test, ended up with a B, self studied for MCAT and got 11 on PS. Go figure.

I say they both look pretty awful 😉

Seriously though, we have between 90-100 slides per lecture. At least 50 are nothing but a picture of some biochemical pathway or mechanism. And the majority are obscure (different electron acceptors in bacteria, sulfur stuff, etc...). No text at all besides these pictures. I'm trying to review and I'm like what the heck am I supposed to be getting out of these...

Class isn't curved and last year, zero out of the 200 in the class got above a 90. Awesome...
 
The OChem lab reports suuuuuuuucccccckkkkkkkk. They take forever. Six hours is short. They are sometimes 15 pages long. And people started cheating so they have cracked down so hard on them, marking whole sections wrong for one misplaced word, I don't think there is anyway I can now get the A I have had all semester 🙁 Very upset over it!

Excited about MCAT tho!

I study in the US, but am abroad for a semester. I actually was very hesitant on applying initially but once the HPAO advisor told me that it could be a good thing as long as I didn't take dumb classes and went to an okay university, it would be okay.

My med stat class is 95% med students(I'm the 5%), in their 3rd years doing an intercalated track or whatever in pediatrics. It's crazy because all our studies/cases have to do with stuff I've never heard of(I'm only an UG remember) so when I was like so what causes asthma again people laughed before they realized I was an "affiliate" student(that's what they call us here).

I'm definitely applying to US schools but I'm also extremely jelly of the way they have their education system here... which only makes me wanna go to med school more lol

That sounds ridiculous! Some of the classes here have like 150 slides per lecture (specifically cell bio, physio, and biochem, etc.). I'm so happy I'm not taking any of them...

Already finished my PS, starting on secondaries now based of prompts from last year. Y'all need to get with it. :laugh::laugh:
 
Guys I'm sorry, it's so hard to express sarcasm in forums. I haven't started anything haha.

I tried to start my PS today but it failed, I did manage to read some additional tips on how to write it though.

I think we just have to be real. It sounds cliche but as long as we do that and show a genuine passion for medicine we will get in somewhere! Assuming we don't apply to only HYS Hopkins Mayo etc.

Hoping Vandy will show me some love, though my stats are a wee bit below their matriculating average :xf:

Trying to write a research paper, but I can't find any research on my topic...wtf? 🙁
 
I wrote my first draft for my PS a while ago 😳, but I'm having a hard time getting started on the second draft. I never know whose advice to take on what to change. I'm going to start studying for MCATs next month, I'm not doing anything secondary-related before that. It seems kind of weird to already prep for schools I'm not sure I can get into or not, ya know?
 
Yeah, I haven't even started my PS yet haha. I'm just focusing on the MCAT and some ECs right now. My school list is kinda, sorta done though, but I'm having trouble paring it down, there are so many schools I want to apply to!

Thirded. I think my PS was what really brought me down this cycle. 😡
People don't stress PS like they should. And I'm to the point where I think I just want to scrap all that I've already done...🙁
 
I'm 123 words in but heading off to Rome at 3AM, hopefully will get some quality writing done there!
 
gotta write my PS as well. ;/ not sure how, but i think ill take time during winter break to make one.

There's a writing class at my school that helps write your PS...I need to take it...
 
I'm not looking forward to writing my PS... at all. I could use advice too if anyone has some tips for writing a great one
 
You guys get really good MCAT scores and great grades. I think that you can handle writing a PS.

The really sad part is that I'm also majoring in English and I really have no clue how to start this PS. 😳
