Woot! Good job!
Thanks! Was hoping for a bit higher but...meh. I guess I still have three weeks.
Woot! Good job!
Ah shoot. AAMC 5 --> 11/11/12 (34)
for the people who have studied for the MCAT during a full semester...how did you handle it? Any advice? I will be studying during this semester while taking Evolution, O Chem 2, Physics 2 and a Psychology class. Just want to have insight on what to expect. I also will be volunteering and shadowing.
You're still on an awesome roll! It probably hit some weak spots, but I'm sure you'll figure out what you missed and kill the next one! 👍👍

I did all of that. It sucked, but it was over pretty quick...
Thanks, I sure hope so!
+1. Lots of coffee. That and time management - learn what classes you can slack off in and still do well, and use that spare time for the MCAT.

I took AAMC #5 a few days ago. My breakdown was: 13/8/10 for a 31😡
Verbal killed me. That passage about Picasso was simply ridiculous

School 🙁 You?
Heheheh I still have one more week of break 🙄 But I have to go to a funeral ( 🙁 )and an interview, so things still be busy. You have a tough semester?
Ah I am sorry about the funeral =( but good luck with your interview!!!!! Nah my quarter is super light since its my second to last quarter ever Yay!!!! I am taking 1 science class, a class on comics and superheros, sociology 1, and a class on US Healthcare System. Should be pretty light.
@Tatertots - Any recommendations for improving verbal? I had consistently been around an 11, which I'd be fine with on the real test, but I just took AAMC 7 and got a 13/9/12. If I reduce stupid errors (ex: missing answers straight from the passages) on the science sections I can easily get 14s on both. I'd like to get closer to a 12 on verbal but yesterday left me feeling like crap. I think I'm going to try visualization a little more, and I'm debating whether or not to mentally map after paragraphs. Any tips?
what prep material are u using

Hmm despite constant practice I am not sure what advice I can offer. I didn't visualize or deliberately mentally map the passages but when I read a verbal passage I had a pretty idea of where things were. This didn't matter to much though because I tried not to go back to the passage as much as possible.
A few things worked for me including:
1. Don't second guess myself + choose an answer and move on. I realized that a handful I got wrong every time were because I changed my answer.
2. Make what your reading interesting. I did this by disagreeing with w/e I read, or approaching it as a skeptic. This made the details stick much better for me and also I felt I had a better grasp at what "main attitude" of the writer was.
Good luck!
Our awesome thread was buried half-way down the second page. Lame.
Gotta love Wisconsin weather; yesterday I was tanning outside shirtless because it was in the upper 50s and sunny. Today it snowed 7 inches.
Thumbs up for Tim Horton's. Yeahhhhh Canada, wooh.![]()

Dude your powning this so hard right now.
...I don't think I could have made that sound any more SoCal.
Anyways, I'm really excited because the first science professor I've contacted about a LOR says he will!! I was really afraid I'd have a hard time because I don't really do office hours and that kind of thing. But he was a sweet dude (even if he taught good ole deadly PChem). So yeay ^_^
Congrats! 🙂🙂 The professor I asked said he would write me one but he still hasn't gotten back to me after giving him my papers. I'm scared to keep bothering him 🙁
👍👍 It's refreshing seeing you do so well. Keep at it!
BEAST! Represent Micro and Immuno majors!

Oh god, I haven't posted in this thread in ages, and the first thing i see are mcat posts. It brings back bad memories. Best of luck to you guys though.
If you really want that professor to write you a LOR then you better hound him about it. You can do it by even just giving him a deadline and say this is when I really would like to have it done. Its better than saying over and over have you done it yet.
Hello fellow 2017ers! 🙂
Welcome! 🙂Hello fellow 2017ers! 🙂
Very nice! 😀Gah I can't wait for this test to be over with. AAMC 8 --> 13/12/13 (38).

Yes to your first question. Did you mean letters from professors? If so, I would say as soon as possible.2017 = applying this cycle right? When should we be starting to go get those adcom letters?
You're doing great!AAMC 9 --> 13/11/12 (36). I was one question away from a 13 in BS, which would've made me feel a little bit better. I can't complain with a 36, but I'm still shooting for 37+ on the real thing 😎
Have you considered emailing the head of your pre-med committee?Long time no see. I'm actually wondering about getting LORs. My university has a pre-med committee that writes letters for us, but we still have to get letters from professors. How does that work? Do they use snippets of what professors wrote?

Sorry, I think you have to pay for the rest.Anyone know how to get old MCAT tests for free other than the free one on the site?
