Class of 2017!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
just withdrew from a university I wasn't so hot about...lets hope my top choice wait list pulls through lol...maybe I shouldn't be gambling with med school acceptances like this. :scared:

Stayed home all weekend since I wasn't feeling well. Finished my laundry and fixed my towel rack. Back to work today 🙁. CsHead--you're off the hook.

+1, back to reality 🙁.

On a side note, I haven't had an interview in a month and a half and I have two coming up during these next two weeks (including my top choice 🙂 ) . Ahhh I need to get back into interview mode.

Citizen cope, ratatat, some skrillex, matisyahu, Alice in chains, cake, crystal castles, and beck. Yeah, that would make a decent playlist.

Went to the gym for the first time in months today. Feels bad man.

Just getting back from the gym myself, I definitely know that feel

Went to the gym today too after I went to the dealership. Was tired as heck since im sleep schedule is fuked and only got an hour of sleep.

Oh wells.

My diet was on point last week doing protein sparing modified fast, feel like I lost a few pounds and my big lifts stayed the same

Changed your name, ehh? That's good because I was only going to let it drag on...

I know... I'm hoping the trips there will get me pumped up because right now i'm just like meh.. why did I decide on this again.

I'm about to go running for the first time in months too. I'm kinda dreading it.

Shame on all of you.

.

Haha I think after these two interviews I will call it quits even if I do get an extra II. Frankly, I'm tired of interviewing, traveling, and all the stuff that comes along with it ($$$).

Ahh see.. The traveling and stuff is nice (even if it does cost $$) because it's a change from the normal... I am in dire need of these.

Totally out of it though in other ways... Sure it will be fine as staying with a student host always gets me pumped.

Well interview season is almost over. II should be slowing down at this point.

It was time for a change.

Even if I'm out of the interview mindset, the flight always get me excited! Interviews are a great excuse to explore a city/visit friends.

Hey at least we're trying! Besides, I just won a work raffle for not gaining weight over the holidays. I feel accomplished. :meanie:

Question for you guys

So I got accepted a while back and currently working a pretty ****ty paying job and hours. If I continue to work until med school I'll save up around 10k more, on top of my 23k I have saved. Is it better just to quit since tuition is expensive as fuk and almost irrelevant?

Also if I quit my job and received another interview would it look bad if I said I quit my job or should I not say anything about it?

Thanks

Um.. You work a "****ty" paying job, yet you can save $10k in 6 months? I could save $10k in 6 months if I didn't have to eat or pay any bills.

Anyway, $10k is a ton of money. Keep working.

****ty paying relative to what someone with my degree should be making. Lots of my Undergrad friends making 70k.

That engineering.

I just end up working nights in a pathology lab.

try and find another job. If you can't, 10k is a lot and its some nice spending money dude.

edit: Feeling entitled to more pay is kind of lame. You gotta make things happen for yourself my man.

I try to stay positive in this thread, but feeling entitled to more money just because of your degree doesn't make much sense to me. Gotta work for it no matter what field you're in.

Has nothing to do with my degree and my entitlement.

I just literally miss out on all social events with friends to make some money that will make up 5% or so of my total loan money. And bust my butt doing.

You guys are tough. I am in a similar situation. Since he did not bring up finding another job, I think he wants to quit and is looking for an excuse. There is nothing wrong with taking time off before beginning the odyssey that is medical school. The question is how much will you hate yourself for not having that ten grand. Remember borrowing ten grand and spending ten grand are not the same. It Will probably cost you double that once years of interest are factored in.

There's not a lot I wouldn't go through (within reason) knowing I'd have an additional $10k saved up by August. That's just me though.

I am in a similar situation Lafakads and I have decided to compromise by working for the next 3 months and then spending the following 3 months doing different things before medical school starts. Every dollar I make now and apply towards loans is like 2$ I save later, and plus this allows me to have some more spending money now.

I don't get it? By the guys sleeve I'd guess it was an interview, but who interviews on a couch?

I'm assuming that black thing on the table is some sort of hint, but I have no idea what it is haha 🙁 I failed

I believe you're right about the interview. I think it's a casting couch for adult films.

I want to travel, but I doubt I'll be able to. Whatever money I save is going to go towards getting settled in a new city.

You can travel...to your new city :naughty:

Also I don't believe your signature for one minute.

I'd rather not. My SO is going to be studying for Step 2 in July and I don't really want to travel alone.. especially not in the last few weeks until I move away.

What do you mean you don't believe my signature?

From what I've seen of her posts, Melissa Thompson can not be right. Ever. :naughty:

On a similar thought of saving money, I'm debating turning down an unexpected interview. It's just so hard to say no to an interview that I would have gladly attended earlier in the season though...

I did this a few weeks back. I felt bad about it for a few days, but now I'm happy with my decision. Saved about $400.

That was actually my plan. Make some cash. Then quit for summer and chill with friends and hang out like a normal person does.

If it's a school you can't see choosing over your other choices then I'd save the money. I had the same situation and ended up saving the $400. Like MedPR said, it stings for a couple of days then you'll be all right and $400 wealthier 😀
