Class of 2017!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Just had a surprise surgical procedure that prevents me working out for 2 weeks ugh

So, who ended up spontaneously drinking a bottle of wine last night? This guy..

Same here.
Whoah, and here I thought I was the only one enjoying a nice Argentinian Malbec! Weird that the three of us drank a bottle of wine last night. I had my now *19* y/o girlfriend over, too :naughty: Ahhhh, the life of an accepted student before starting med school. 😀
Defer a year so you aren't my competition.
+1 Key-ryest.
This would be correct!

The drugs ending in -olol indicate beta blockers. Used for hypertension, but also for tachycardia. I know this from grad school, but also from experience. Lol.
They're also great stable-state anxiolytics since it relates heavily to the hyperexcited sympathetic state. When I was put on metoprolol for HTN when I was 25, my anxiety level plummeted. I'm so much more chill now. But then again, that could've been because I was averaging a systolic of 160! 🙄

Anyone else not able to celebrate their acceptance because of work?

Only day 4...and yeah I plan to do it tonight.

Wait til you get to the long routines in month 2. You may have to get up before 5. 😱

Has anyone filled out their FAFSA yet? There's a question about work-study on there. I always did work-study in undergrad, but wasn't planning on it in med school (that'd be crazy right?) But a quick search on SDN suggests that there might be some easy work-study options where you're essentially paid to study (e.g. working at the library). Does anybody know if work-study is an extra funding option or would it decrease the amount you can take out in loans?

Questionable.

When I was in junior high and I was worried about a test that I had just taken I would eat gummy bears, take one and only eat its head and while looking at what was left I would think "Well, I don't know how well I did on that test but at least I have a head."

I know weird... but at least it gave me perspective 😛 you could try it...

Bet you did fine.
All excellent students feel this way after an exam... then get an A.

+1 You're going to be embarrassed when the grades come out and you're sitting pretty at the top of the class.

I actually went down to the bar down the street after the test and did some day drinking before my afternoon class. Not at all ashamed.

It's your last semester of college.... You should be doing this everyday!

I think I marked yes on that option thinking it's "work" study and thus does not affect total loanage. It was my understanding that the gunmit supplements the funds to the work study. But I could be waaaaay off, as I sometimes am. Okay, about to depart Denver and can't wait to get off this plane! 6.5hr connection flights blow.
