Now back to the main point...

Who won the Marvel Civil War?

Well Iron Man's side won and the super hero registration act stayed in place ultimately because Captain America decided to stand down because of how the civil war was destroying the Marvel Universe.

I hope you actually wanted someone to answer that....😳

I also realized i just spoiled a huge chunk of Marvel lore in that post, but you guys should still read Civil War though cause its a really good comic. Its one of the few event comics to do things right (looking at you Flashpoint)

Was the Registration Act unconstitutional? Iron Man was a traitor who wanted to disclose his allies' identities to the supervillains.

Congress was the one who proposed the Superhuman Registration Act following the events at Stamford Ct. He was there to provide the face of the supporters of the act. He even got Spiderman to unmask himself (which caused a whole lot of ridiculous retconning to that franchise)

Then why did Spiderman join the Anti-Registration Forces?

Same. Anyone have any idea how much it costs to drive a uhaul 3000 miles? I'm scared to check.
It's about $1200 for a medium UHaul and a 2.4k mile trip. I already priced it.
You can just use a moving company as well and ship everything over in boxes. Saves you a very uncomfortable drive 😛
The cheapest moving company that'll do everything for you is about $2500, which makes sense if you don't need to drive out yourself considering how much gas you'd use driving a UHaul. I'm undecided at this point.

EPIC!
How does one become a mod? What is the process?
You can be approached by the admin if you're an exemplary member. Or you can contact a mod directly and nominate yourself, which is what I did. I got the snub twice so far, the most recent reason being they're "not currently taking on new mods; we'll contact you at a later time if the need arises." Unrequitted love is a bish for me right now.

Tots must've sabotaged me.

That's not including gas, is it. Most of the uHauls get 10 mpg. That means that a 2,400 trip will use 240 gallons of gas. Moving in the summer means $4 a gallon. That's another $960!

I think I am just going to ship most stuff and donate most of the furniture. We get a lot of refugees in the area and my SO already has most necessary things.

I think you are a very good member Guero, I'd vote for you.

Try Penske (or any of the point to point, pick up at home depot type craps). Also, if you really want to save money. Stopping is not an option. Any trip across the country can be done in 2 days (easier with more than one driver).

I'm all about that doing incredibly sadistic things to save $$$$$

Wow, I just checked them out. No mileage charges is a huge saving. Also, if you are a AAA member you get another 12% off. It is a little over $750 to go from WA to VA!

Then another grand for gas.

Just noticed they do a nice lock in of 9 days... funny that on east cost moves they don't....

Hence me earlier, do it in 2 days thing.

Dude, I would say buy new bed and craigslist (read: free) everything else that can't fit in a car/airplane/ship.

I have an SO too, and a lot of stuff that we have gotten for free over the years. That includes a brand new bed for our engagement. It would be easier to just bring it all along and spend the money to move. It isn't too expensive since we have been saving up for this.

However, I will hear back from UW within a month about an acceptance or where I sit on the waitlist. I may not have to leave WA.

Yeah, the gas is killer, especially since they're so crappy at mileage.

I wish I could do that; but all of my furniture either has sentimental value (handed down by ex-mother-in-law) or is uber expensive ($5k bed, w00t for comfort!). And thanks for the vote of confidence 🙂 I think my posting in the recently closed "awkward people at your interview" thread may've had something to do with it. 🙁 I didn't realize discussing others' awkward, unprofessional, sometimes alarming behavior was considered trash talking and against ToS until a senior mod came in, closed the thread, and let us know it wasn't cool. Felt pretty bad about that, too. 🙁

Agreed. I always get out to LA from Nashville in 2 days, hitting NM in less than 24hrs.

Hah, yeah, East coast is full of exceptions when it comes to nearly any business. LoL
:luck: UW is awesome!
Ugh, I wish I could've applied there with any sliver of a chance at an interview. 🙁 Alas, my stats weren't good enough to apply MD/PhD there. Le Sigh. Oh well, as long as OHSU shows me some love I'll be totally fine.

Damn, I've been holding off thinking about moving options and costs. Just looked up Penske and ew. It would cost me $1800 to leave socal and go cross country.

Has anybody looked into companies that will ship your car so you don't have to put the mileage/time yourself?

Pretty expensive. If you're driving out in a Penske, I'd highly advise tacking on a trailer (full, not the dolly that puts all that wear on your rear tires). They're remarkably cheaper than any other option.

My opinion is meaningless because it's your life, but I'm going to lay it out there anyway. Get new free stuff when you get where you are going. Undergrads and young people a plenty means free stuff on craigslist. The money you saved would go a long ways on other things.

When I moved back to the east coast after college... I got charged about 1k for less than a rooms worth of stuff (but including a 60" tv and stand but no bed). I would absolutely drive your car. It's a ~200-300 (well ~300-400 in today's gas) trip.

OHSU is an awesome school too :luck: I did apply to Udub as an OOS, got the secondary and an ii but ended up not going (other acceptances, $, time, SO in CA, etc.) I almost went there for undergrad too... oh well... who knows what will happen later right?

Agent B has the class of 2019 worshipping him.

😳

so much wtf goes on in these threads at night... every time

I have no idea.

Guero! Guero! Guero!

Spring break, bizznatchessss!!!

An inevitable problem.

So... I'm basically moving out of my current place and driving like twenty minutes to my new place when I time comes.

+pissed+

Yes it is indeed! I'm really hoping to do residency at Udub if at all possible, especially if I go into neurosx. Their program is seriously bomb, including an entire year of residency abroad! :faints:
It's not my fault there are like five medical schools in the city I currently live in... 🙁

I blame Obama.

LoL j/k, I'm an independent that loves the Obama-meister.

Ugh if only my car had more storage space so that I don't have to also ship things. Maybe I should install a hitch or a rack or something. I submitted my last car payment yesterday :soexcited:. Now that I officially own my car I feel like I can modify it however I want. Oh the power !

I haven't heard back from my last interview yet, but if I get in I don't even need to move 😱... I kinda sorta maybe wanna leave cali though.

And I'm 95% sure ill be moving back to the city where I got did my undergrad (only about an hour away). I can't imagine moving all my stuff across country, good luck to you guys.

My MSTP friend is sitting in my office talking about how at 2 of the schools she was accepted to the stipend is enough to buy a house....And I am looking at looking at the thousands of dollars I will be paying for small apartments...😡 🙁

That's awesome. I'll be applying to the MD/PhD program as an internal candidate at the school I will most likely be attending. Hopefully I can get a nice stipend at least for the years I do my PhD (if I'm accepted, of course). Then I'll be in the class of 2020 though 🙁.

Sucks being a chick. My packing consists of a lot of ez, portable stuff that can really fit in most any car.

I have my last interview/my last chance to stay in CA coming up. I wish medical schools were more evenly distributed and not all on the other side of the country. Sigh.

:/ That is a nice stipend! My MSTP friends are awesome but they always have bags under their eyes. I just think it requires way to much sleep deprivation 😛
