But your post reminded me about my goal to make a basic budget sheet and plan things out. Need to get on that. And your COL sounds nice and low, kudos. Would be unrealistic for many. I'd leave some room for emergencies and a chance to spoil yourself once in a while

I'm hoping to land in the OHSU student co-op, a medical frat that charges...wait for it....

$250 all inclusive each month! I'm thinking I could live very comfortably off of $800 a month, probably less. I might take out $1k just to ensure I have enough for emergencies and put the $2400 I'd save in the bank and revert back to $800 for M2. But M3 and M4 are a different story due to rotation travels. Almost everyone needs to take out more during those years, especially for residency interviews.

My rent will only be $410 because I decided to take on roommates. And the city has a relatively low COL. After much calculating, I will only be taking out about $88000 total student loans for my med education! 🙂 I still have hefty loans from ugrad and grad school but I'm still graduating with less than $200000 loans total.

I hate you. Not literally, but you know... Wish I'd get out of it with a mere $250k, let alone less than $200k.
