Class of 2017!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Just received a rejection from a school I already withdrew from. :uhno: But but... I rejected you first !

Same with me! Jefferson needs to get their act together. I withdrew weeks ago when I got my UW acceptance.

I guess it's all the more reason to not go there. :meanie:

Nice! I actually met someone on their admissions committee at a conference last year who urged me to apply there... and I never even got an interview. Haha

Maybe because you're from Cali? I just felt like a lot of my application cycle was largely location biased. Did you get that vibe, or was it just me?

Oh definitely. I think location bias plays a big role in medical school admissions, which actually makes a lot of sense. And having average-ish numbers certainly doesn't help, lol

But I'm still OOS, I'm just really close by. Same with GW. It makes sense that I got an interview at Maryland, but does the location bias still apply to the "close by" OOS schools?

Yeah, I would think so. At least that was my experience. I think schools realize that, in general, students that live near by are more likely to matriculate there. Loyola is a really good example--a private school (so no obligation to admit in-state students) with the majority of their students coming from that part of the country.

Nice and good luck! My original plan to finish the first week of August but my boss convinced me to stay till the 14th.

Wow. Wouldn't school start by then? Good luck to you too! Nvm read your other pst, you meant June 🙂 that makes sense...

Too many posts to catch up to... Ya quiero que sea Sabado.

I feel like every interview I'm at theres a significant amount of Californians though. At least we'll never be alone wherever we matriculate? 😀

Well.. considering that California is the largest state (no one cares about Alaska), it's definitely reasonable.

It's definitely a tie between location bias and scholarship.
