Top secured!

Awww, poor kitty 🙁 My two cats could barely handle the drive from CT to NYC (2 hours), so the idea of moving them 1,000+ miles away is kind of painful. If you find a good way to (safely) knock your cat out for the drive, let me know![]()
Oh P.S. since we're moving out of NYC, hubby is totally going to let me get a dog!! Maybe now I won't have to coo at strangers' dogs on the street. (The owners act like I'm saying "hiiiii cuuuutie" to them and not the dog. I'm not that weird 😳)
I'm allergic to cats and all of this cat talk is making me itchy
My sister's ~20lb dog gets really nervous and pukes on car rides, so she gives him half a Dramamine tablet (so 25 mg, I think) an hour or so before they go. He calms down for a few hours after that. Just did a quick google search and it looks like 12.5mg - a quarter tablet - is the dose for a cat. Just an idea 🙂
I'm fortunate that I'm only moving my cat - and my stuff - something like 5-10 miles...

Why because you're moving out of NYC? My dog will remain at home. 🙁

Yeah, cats are icky.

Yeah, I just noticed over in Allo he's been posting as "nysegop1, 2, 3, 4, etc." Each one is banned almost immediately.
Seriously? The guy needs to get a life.
What have the posts been like?
Not weird. My boyfriend is taking his this summer and I know I'll practically die waiting for his results! Going to keep quiet though so he doesn't hate me for stressing him out even more though hahahaha. He keeps pushing his test date back and I've been biting my tongue every time I want to make a comment about it.... Deep breath and realize I already had my chance to do it my way, so he'll have to do it his!
Yup! I get to go through this all over again, yaaaaaay.
Is your SO trying to end up at the same school as you? How are you both dealing with the one-year delay thing? I feel like it's a little straining haha, now that I have my summer free and he gets to be a slave to the AAMC.... woof.
Haha yeah she is applying early decision to the school that I will be attending. But it's not entirely because I am going there. All of her family is in that city and she wants to go back there.
She still has another year left for her master's program so we will be apart for the year. I agree that it will be straining, but at least we will only be 70 miles away. I also have to go through AAMC again 🙁 so I can do it right along with her 😛.

Oh man, I don't mean to rant but my situation with my boyfriend is really stressful in relation to this. He's also pursuing medicine, but he'll be two years behind because his school failed to mention that there was a premed committee he had to go through/strict timeline, etc. We'll be apart this coming year, then hopefully he'll find a job near me during his application year. His GPA is fairly low, he's taken a few years off, transferred, and recently decided he wants to do medicine so he has catching up to do with shadowing/clinical hours, etc. He'll be applying next cycle for MD, DO, and PA all at the same time, but there's absolutely no guarantee he'll get into a program near me so that we could realistically get married.
If anyone read that and has any insights or encouragements, I appreciate it.

Are you going to school in a state with lots of options? I know Philly, Chicago, and NYC have tons of schools all clumped up in one general area. If you happen to end up there odds are a lot higher that he could join you as opposed to somewhere like Rochester.
Yeah, I think it really depends on the area. I was stoked to be able to stay on the same coast as my girlfriend... 400 miles instead of 3000. Or quick direct flights instead of long flights with layovers.

Haha no need to apologize, rant all you want!!
Does Penn State have an ED program? Even if it does, it is still a major risk to do as if he doesn't get in he cannot submit applications to other schools until October. Either way that is a tough situation. My SO and I have chosen to take it one day at a time next year and not think too much about what the future holds.
Maybe he can try and get in a research lab at your school or some how try and become affiliated with the hospital in some way? That would certainly help his chances.

Penn State. Which is about 1.5 hours from Philly, so we could theoretically live in the middle, but that's still a bit far away from both schools.
I don't think it does. And I agree, we just take it one step at a time but I can't help but be concerned sometimes. He's going to try to get a job at Hershey Medical center after he graduates, while he's applying, but some schools don't really favor that, right? Is there anyway we could do like a "peer recommendation" or something? Or is that sketchy?
Luckily we'll be 2 hours apart. We were 3 hours apart during undergrad, so I hope this will be a little better. Undergrad was kind of annoying.
Lol. I was wondering what happened to you
Two words: fish sticks.

Same coast means same time zone! Thats always a huge plus too 👍
Oh the times zones. We usually talk at 10pm my time, while it is 7pm his time 🙁 so looking forward to not having to tell him "mmm, it is getting kid of late here..." #thestruggleisreal
Lol, my GF and I have that problem and we're in the same time zone.
