I have strongly considered turning my autocorrect off because of mishaps in the past. However, being able to type fast is too enticing.

I can usually randomly press buttons and it knows what I want to say. Lol. I will never turn it off!!
 
Just came back from Columbus-- so disappointed. There was really nothing reasonably priced, or safe enough to choose for housing over my ideal roommate and place in Toledo. Just not enough time left-- so I'm going to have to stay with Toledo. Really depressed. Why did I get an acceptance to my top choice when I don't have enough time to find good housing? Why wasn't I accepted a month and a half ago? Tell me there's a reason for it.

Anyway, congrats to Babs and his fiancé for the master's! 🙂

Hey Silvercat, are you sure you looked everywhere in Cbus? I live here and there are lots of great options but they are further away from campus (at least, the safer places). Anyway, see you in Toledo in a month or so if that is where you end up 🙂

Oh... This brings about an interesting hypothetical. Would you live in the worst part of a major city (so bad that the likelihood of being stabbed is very real), if it meant you got into a school like Johns Hopkins in Baltimore for example? I would say, "no" because I am married and have my wife to worry about. However, if it was just me I would consider it.

Dunno about Hopkins, but I'm still on the WL at Case Western in Cleveland (though the end is neigh as they start school in a week :cry🙂. I'd be willing to suck it up and live in a bad area for the first year no question.

That being said, get into any school I want but have to live in a dangerous area for all 4 years? Probably not. I don't see that benefit vs risk ratio. Maybe if I hadn't gotten in anywhere after the 2nd or 3rd round of applying and was that desperate.

Yesterday was my last day of teaching MCAT classes....It ended up being super sad. I was with these kids almost every day 2 weeks throwing bio at them. Didn't think I would become attached to them so quickly but gonna miss them :cry:






(or maybe I am just saying this because one of my students knows who I am and reads my posts :hello:)

No. Definitely not.

I lived in a very seedy part of South Philadelphia all of my senior year, and I would NEVER do it again. I'm not normally one to be stressed out, but sometimes I would wake up in the middle of the night to gunshots and screams. It was not fun.

It would depend on the city. Baltimore, no. Chicago, yes. DC, yes. Philly, no. Boston... maybe. But the only way you could get me to live even close to Boston period is if I was going to Harvard.

And that's not based on schools, just respective comfort and familiarity with the cities.

So an M3 is selling some of his books. Since all of our book are required to be digital, I was going to get them from him so I can have hard copies. Anyone know if it's worth it?

The Goljan sounds like a good deal- Half.com lowest priced listing is 15$. Never heard of the other before (granted, I'm not yet in med school).
