Class of 2017!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I imagine neonatologists and other such physicians care. But really? Focus on that crap in fellowship or something.

Also, anyone have advice for learning muscle origins, insertions, innervations, actions, and vasculature other than flash cards?

I've had to alter my study habits, fell behind bc I was sick over the holiday wkd, and have an exam Monday. If my new method of repetitively writing them out doesn't turn out well, I'll have to try another method for the second exam.

P.S. We started at the bottom and now we here: TOP!

Also diagrams helped at least with innervations and blood supply.

That seems like the coolest thing ever and was brought up in a genetics lecture. I'm tempted. I may have to work the streets for a bit, but it may be worth it.

Setting up shadowing with a cardiologist - "hm, sounds cool."

I think I have a hint on what I'm going to be into doing in a few years.

I love our CDM - I. E ethics of medicine lectures. Anacephalic organ growth- interesting.

Glycolysis, PPP, Fatty Acid Synthesis and Degrad, Purine and Pyrimidine Synthesis and Degrad, Gluconeogenesis, Glycogenesis--all within two weeks. The firehose has opened and I'm officially drowning.

And what's up with the layout on SDN?

Is it all white? If so, it's because they have an error in the way the code is being read. It switches back and forth for me (since earlier today) but will probably be fixed soon.

I don't think it's going to be bad. It's three professors who are known for fair questions.

Now this recommendation to get a Littmann Cardiology III? $$$ I was settled on a classic II SE..

There's a thread over in allo that discusses this. Check it out. FWIW, I got a Cards III and like it... I got a black on black matte, which looks so badass.

Yeah I talked to a few docs I know and they all recommended it too. I'm going to get black and rainbow. Bling bling.

Got my first exam back...

100%! None of the others are going to be this high, so I am glad this one can help forgive the lower scores.

Alas, my school is just P/F. I didn't even get to honors it.

I know all of you allos aren't interested.. but we took our first OMT clinical skills assessment today, and I kicked metaphorical butt!

Soooo... If anyone ever has a hangover, or a migraine and needs a quick fix... I'm your guy! Lol.

I learned today that my laminectomy skills could make being a spine surgeon difficult...

Ha ha! The laminectomy was pretty fun. I had to really wrench and yank on the spine to get it out.
Instilled new confidence in the strength of my back.

Favorite part of anatomy thus far, totally ended up looking like this:

Also, btw, gunna try to do a "whatshouldwecallmedschool" Tumblr: http://med-school-moments.tumblr.com/ ...I don't suspect mine will be quite as funny. But...I've had fun doing a NSFW blog and have quite the following (~500). We'll see how this goes. So far nothing else I have beats my MDApps. LoL

I told myself not to go for club positions... but I love love love emergency medicine. SDN, should I run for first year rep?

How fast do your grades get posted after an exam? Ours are up within 5 hours usually, which is crazy fast, I think.

The website used to post the grades is awful though. Hard to extract information from it and see everything all at once. I've been dumping them into an Excel sheet I made, which also tells me my running grade in each class.

Chemistry major in undergrad really just means Excel major. Damn PChem labs.

There's no point if you're trying to make residencies like you more. If you think it'll be fun, go for it. I ran for nothing. I joined every interest group and a few 'for fun' groups like football.

Actually, EM is the one group I didn't join. Nope.

Everyday I tell myself that I will take a 20min nap. Everyday I let myself down.

Yeah, EM is about the only place I see myself. I just love being down there. Anything that gets me more involved with EM the better. We have an EM residency, and they'll probably get sick of seeing me, so I'm not worried about it from that standpoint lol.
