Class of 2017!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
How often do they let you shadow like that? And are you interested in OB?

They have slots for 2x every Saturday/Sunday, except it's filled until winter break for now. I expect some spots will open up before break as people need to head home and such, and I think I'll try and nab one of those.

I'm not really interested in anything - just playing the field.

Sooo I'm not the only one that had a bad test... I don't feel so alone in the world. I failed one test a couple of months ago.. We just finished the class last week and I wound up with an 88 in the class. If he curves the grade (high probability), I will have an A!

Now.... If I make it through renal physio... Maybe I'll be a doctor!

My heart breaks a little when I see med student smoking. :-/
I don't think any of the med students in my class smoke. But smoking is not allowed on campus so I don't know for certain.

I agree, it would break my heart to see one smoking.

I've seen a handful of people smoking outside, but it's pretty rare.

Also, I learned how to do an abortion today. Pretty gross.

Retiring radiologist in lecture today--"Smoking can cause pulmonary emboli. Marijuana doesn't, though; I don't understand why med students can't take marijuana--it makes you sleep more, eat better, all good things."

Another anatomy lecture--"The hand is pretty complicated to dissect. You might want some Xanax.."

Classic.

No class tomorrow makes me have a 5 day weekend. If only missing class on Monday and Tuesday was for a good reason.

Edit: 3,000th post. That's a lot of posts for 2 years... I think a majority have come from this thread.

You have a five day weekend and I have five hours of cell bio lecture tomorrow. Plus a two big tests in different classes just before thanksgiving break and another test in a different class just after thanksgiving.
This year I'll be thankful for having a thanksgiving break so I can catch up on study for the latter test after studying for the former two.

Btw, I checked out your thread. Very interesting stuff, hopefully one of those two gets passed. Good luck with that!

Thanks. I am hoping it does, but who knows. Some people think it will cost too much to extend the benefits so it may not go anywhere. I honestly was hoping the legislation would contain a limiting term on it to say like if the retiree is over 50% disabled or if they served 20 years they can pass it on up to 5 years of retirement. I kind of got that, but in more law terms. Here is a pretty much copy of what it says:

if a person is entitled to retired pay by reason of service in the uniformed services (or would be entitled but have not attained a certain age) they can pass it on until 5 years of their last day of service.

So there's someone in our class that has whistled two or three times now to get a professor's attention during lecture.

Like.

What.

That is beyond rude and unprofessional.

Say wha?????

Unless you are being lectured by an actual dog, whistling is not an acceptable way to get their attention. Just say, "I have a question" if they don't notice you holding your hand up!

Right? Like, I'm not the model student for lecture etiquette or anything, but even I know that that's not a thing that should happen.

Besides being funny, I actually tried to diagnose this to practice. Sounds like a tear in the urethra and buck's fascia that caused urine to move through the space and into the penis/scrotum.

The best comment I saw on it,

"It sounds like
(•_•)
( •_•)>⌐■-■
(⌐■_■)
urine trouble."

I was just going to use the img to diagnose no-face syndrome.

I hate nerves--especially brachial plexus. May they choke on their axons.

For those that use the app, is the participated threads option missing for you?

Mmmmm, nuthin' like the "squishy penis" to make for a fun lifting experience.

Don't forget about fluid displacement! Measure how much oil you need first and then heat it up. Otherwise you will burn down your house!

Yep. That's the plan. Also the Turkey was bought fresh and will be totally dry before we put it in.

After that we should be able to adjust the temperature as we need and keep a close eye on it. I feel like I'm in Orgo lab again.

Now to keep a running dialogue here as the turkey is prepared.

Oil is heating up rather slowly. Currently around one fifty degrees. My phone is broken so I can't type numbers. It is also quite cold and slightly snowy out. Hashtag winteriscoming

At three hundred. Trying to get to tree fiddy. So close I can't even help it

Turkey is in. This smells heavenly. Temperature dropped a bit so may need to lengthen cooking time.

It's 42 right now. Plus, it's supposed to be in the 50s this week. That's why I like Seattle.

Yeah.. it's pretty damn cold today.

It was pretty bad when we were frying the turkey last night too. Thankfully we had a few bottles of wine to kill and keep us warm..

High is 50 here is South Mississippi. Thing is, tomorrow it could be 75. Weather around here is cray.

As long as it's sunny, I have no problem with the cold. But frost on the car in the morning when you're late for class is the worst.
