Class Of 2018!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Sooooo... Is it Tri-I or WashU? Hopefully the latter so we can be classmates, assuming some type of divine intervention happens in the next week and I somehow get off WashU's 800 person waitlist.

Also, middle of the second page bump. Smh c/o 2018.

when asked previously, plumazul responded with:

NFL draft anyone? Packers just picked up Ha Ha. I am a happy man.

At work, can't see the draft. Let me know who the niners pick. Their off season efforts have left a lot to be desired

Y'all picked Jimmie Ward out of NIU. Might be a reach pick. Thought you might go with Carlos Hyde. Still makes your defense even better.

that's someones name?

Haha. Yeah. Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, safety out of Bama.

How about Manziel going to the Browns? What do you think his ceiling will be in the NFL?

Based off of the division he'll play in, I don't think he'll run wild over defenses like he did in college, but he could develop into an all-pro with the right offensive scheme. The Browns will need other pieces, though.

Well I'm not really a Johnny Football fan, AND I'm still a bit bitter at the whole city of Cleveland for getting rejected last week by CCLCM, so this is a match made in heaven for me. I think he's destined for failure. Especially in a franchise like the Browns. He really needed to get drafted somewhere where he could sit a year or two and mature both on and off the field. That won't happen in Cleveland and I think he's gonna bust.

I can see what you're saying, and it's entirely possible, but this is just my two cents.

The Eagles and Chip Kelly's up-tempo, spread offense would have been a better fit for Manziel.

Absolutely. I could be wrong, but I see very little chance of that actually working out. I think the Browns should have gone with Carr if they really wanted a QB in round 1.

I can't say much about either Bortles, Carr, or Bridgewater, but I think you have a fair point. The Browns also don't have a very good track record with developing quarterbacks (see Brady Quinn, Colt McCoy, and Brandon Weeden).

The Browns do have the third pick in the second round. I wonder if they'll pick Marquise Lee of USC to give Johnny Football a receiver to throw to.

Buenos Dias everybody! Music in the middle, SUMMER BREAK EDITION!

This whole "waiting" thing is almost unbearable. The extended time I've spent on some of these waitlists is difficult enough, but I'm also waiting to hear back about one of my more recent papers, which was submitted >8.5 weeks ago. Ugh.

NBC Canceled Community 🙁

This is the darkest timeline.

So, I'm working in a deli to make some quick cash over the summer....this is a place I always went to when I was a kid. They have these little 6 oz containers of 'fresh squeezed orange juice'....just spent my morning filling up these containers with Tropicana OJ. Childhood memories = ruined. Also, talk about false advertising haha

The only thing that's "freshly squeezed" is the customer...that's unfortunate.

This is why you should never work in a restaurant you enjoy...inevitably it will get ruined for you one way or another.

Lol orange juice in Europe is freshly squeezed!

I think I'm just going to quit.
I was just talking with the manager on the phone, and he was very angry with me for saying that I couldn't come in at 7am. 1st of all, the job listing I responded to stated '9:00am - 3:00pm', and 2nd of all, if you want me to come in at such an early hour, maybe you should give me more than 14 hours notice.

You tell them bakedbeans! They lie about the orange juice, they lie about the hours. Take deli, remove the "d", rearrange the letters, and whet do you get?! Lieeeesss

Maybe try to make it up to him by expressing these concerns in a new way? "I can't come in at 7:00am tomorrow, but I can do this in the future provided I'm given more notice -- say, 36 hours?"

Just my thoughts, of course, but I think if you can avoid a confrontation and still frame it so that the manager will have a positive view of you, this will be better for you. You wouldn't have to quit, for starters.

I appreciate the advice, @Ace-Co-A, but I've been annoyed with the manager before we even met. I was told on the phone to show up at 2:00pm for an interview, and this slob doesn't even have the deceny to show up. He calls the store at 3:15 to speak to me via telephone. He could have just called me at my home. I've been there about a week and I still haven't been told how much I'm being paid - if you want an ungodly-hour-of-the-morning dedication from me, you really should at least let me know how much you're paying me. I'm not going to wake up at the crack of dawn for 7.25/hour. The guy assigns far more urgency/ value to tasks than are warranted. I understand that you have a line of customers out the door, but that doesn't mean that I can cook the chicken any faster than I already am....unless you want your customers to get salmonella. Frankly, the work is beneath me and instead of subjecting myself to his crap I'm just going to work at the old restaurant I used to work at after I graduated from college. That work is beneath me as well, but at least the managaer is friendly and I know the people who work there are cool. /rant.

I think I found the source of the problem 😉

Hmmmm I'm not sure you did 😛

Levity aside, after earning an Ivy league degree, finishing graduate school, and soon going off to medical school, there is work and certain trades that I feel I can reasonably say are beneath my skill set and not particularly worth my time. That being said, I need money, so I'll do just about anything save for something like hooking, but I won't work for someone who feels they have some kind of greatness to exact over their employees. I've never met a DELI MANAGER with such an inflated ego.

Bolded: I realize this will happen alot in medicine. That's fine, I can deal with it as I have before in a professional setting. Deli counter? Not a professional setting.

It's pretty common for intelligent people to be absolute **** at blue collar jobs. You don't have the physical coordination or the lifetime of practice that one born to that lifestyle would have achieved. 😉

BTW how can someone expect you to act professional in a real(tm) "professional" setting if you can't handle the intense stress of a deli counter? lol.

See the thing is, the people who the manager had 'train' me said nothing but good things. I've done blue collar before, believe me the issue here isn't incompetence on my part. The manager is just a jerk and I'm not going force a smile to appease him. Also, nice one with the false equivalency lol

This thread has turned into a zoo!! :owle:Nice upgrade on your avatar, @Oso -- not sure if it's old news, but looks good! 😀

Nice to see that the weird didn't go away when Agent B left.

Or is it?
