Class Of 2018!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Thanks both. After nothing but bad news for the last month, I'm really starting to doubt that, but we'll see... Pritzker is on the 29th though! Super excited!

So exciting!! Rock that Pritzker interview. 👍

Thanks 🙂

I think you may have misread it. I said to not call it Willis. I remember seeing an ad for Wyoming on 290 saying Grand Teton is 9 Willises tall and was like 😕 "what's a Willis?"

Omg my bad; that just goes to show how tired I am. 8) I would have been just as confused had I saw that, lol.

My flight has been delayed SIX HOURS 😡😡😡

For those of with you interviews coming up, are you doing anything to prep? I figure just re-reading my app/perusing some of the interview feedback/reading about the school should be a decent start. Any other suggestions?

Check if your school does mock interviews. Mine does and I'm banking on those being helpful because I have no idea what to expect.

:biglove:

You need to tell us where this is!

I will update soon. 🙂

I understand. Whatever it is, congrats. 👍👍

Thank you!

I've been listening to NPR about healthcare. Get a friend to perform a mock interview with you. Work on effective body language. Be able to answer "why medicine?" or "tell me about yourself" concisely and eloquently. Know the weakness of your app, but I don't think you have any. :naughty: thats all I can think of....

Got any friends already in graduate school? Get them to grill you.

Ok, so it was for real. I just scheduled an interview with Case Western for 9/23 😍

Congrats! I grew up in Cleveland. You should definitely go eat in Little Italy while you're there (it's right next to campus). And check out the cultural gardens if you have time!

Oh awesome! I'm probably going to hit you up with questions later on, once the interview date nears. 🙂

Has anyone here ever eaten something so hot, it physically made them sweat? I just had some bomb thai food but I am crazy hot right now...my lips are on fire and my forehead is beading...

Yeah, I've done that - love spicy food, even though it kills me. And that sounds SO good right now! Yum!

I'm Korean so....yeah 😛 I remember trying to catch up to my parents' tolerance when I was younger and having buzzy/numb lips for hours after

Plumazula has deactivated you :soexcited:

I can still handle high temperatures, just not noxious heat. Don't even think for one second, oh great 'overlord' that I have withdrawn myself from my hellish domains. I only did that once and it was because this angel was playing me like a damn fool and I had been drinking. NEVER. AGAIN.

I always forget you're Korean and get that exciting "Oh hey! Another Korean!" go off in my head.

Hey guys Im not verified yet and submitted my AMCAS July 12th. Am I really late or still okay? My states are a little underdoggish which is why I have more reason to be worried. =\

An Adcom member I talked to said that he thought the beginning of July was still considered early. On SDN, a majority of the people apply the first week or two, so I can understand your worry. I don't think you're late. 👍

Edit: I think submitting your primary in late August to September time period is more of a late application

I remember reading somewhere that if you can get your applications complete (secondaries, LORs, etc.) by the middle to the end of September, then you aren't at any disadvantage.

So UCLA just invited me for their secondary, even though they've invited thousands more before me. For schools with rolling admissions, shouldn't we really say that early vs. late is a function of how many people have applied before you? I'm wondering if since so many people have already submitted to UCLA, if I'll be considered a late applicant even though I am submitting the application tomorrow...

...thoughts?
(PS, anyone can chime in, not just Jeff lol)

First of all, congratulations! :hardy: I think that's a great way of describing it, but how are we to know how many people have received and returned secondaries? Did UCLA tell you?? I think people use dates because there are normal trends that follow each year, and uncertainty as to how many people are applying, where they are applying and when they are applying.

I didn't know UCLA has received so many secondaries already. I don't think you're late. Have you checked out the old UCLA thread? I heard they only started distributing secondaries recently.
