Class Of 2018!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yesss successful night of waitressing. I'm so charming I charm people into 30% tips on 200 dollar bills. Hollllaaaaa.

On another note. If any of you interview at Minnesota and don't tell me, I'll turn you into a real gimp!

I just came back from an int in Omaha, which I didn't expect to like much but I figured I should go for the experience. It's not diverse...at all...but people are incredibly nice. Is it an act? Who knows.

I was thinking of waitering starting in January after I finish up my last semester. I used to serve at a steakhouse which was decent money.

Do you like the place you are at? Where is the best place for mulah?!

Creighton? The city is not diverse or the medical students are not diverse?

How would your rate your impression of the school from interview day on a scale 1-10?

No, I think it's an Iowa/Nebraska/Midwest thing. They tend to be really friendly people. Very different coming from a big city. But yeah, Nebraska not the place to look if you want diversity. Cows, though, cows they do well.

We're were from isn't exactly known for diversity either. And sorry for never responding to your PM from 3 weeks ago. I'm sorry I beat you to it. Also congrats on Hopkins!

In other news, someone from my college might know who I am on here, especially if he saw my MDApps page before I removed all my ECs. I at least know who he is.

My high school was pretty diverse actually. But it changes pretty drastically of you go north in my town.

And no worries. I'm just happy it's represented! Plus you actually live there now.

Thanks!

I just finished my last secondary and I've been itching to ask this 😛 there are some trends with the secondaries schools give, so what's everyone's favorite/most hated secondary essay format?

1. Short answers but several questions (<1000 characters, 6-8 questions)

2. Medium sized (200-300 words, usually 2-3 questions)

3. Long answer (300+ words, usually 2-3 questions [+ some unique essay question that you couldn't recycle 😛])

Personally I couldn't stand type 1. I like to blab and I hate cutting characters down so these secondaries took unusually long for me 😡

Uhhhhh so I had to carry my friend home at like midnight and physically put a pair of sweats/night clothes on her...

Alcohol is the devil. Ha!

You're a good friend. Just be sure she returns the favor someday.

#2 & #3 worked the best for me. The shortest ones were tough because I had to really work on being concise in my language. I hold writing to be one of my strengths, but I do lean toward the flowery language side.

I'd also propose another prompt style. No space reqs or really big reqs. Those were hard when trying to figure out how much to write.

I feel like you answered this twice but I'm not judging....

I don't actually enjoy getting that drunk. I'm a happy tipsy girl but any more than that and I'm not happy the next day. Haha

Rejected from two schools in two days. Huge disappointment :/

Ahhhh undergrad stuff. I am a live in advisor during graduate school in a Greek house and I see this all too often in the area...kids these days 😉

Moving into my new apt tomorrow so ill probably be MIA for a while!

Good morning~~~ Another day of San Fran then heading home!!!!

Does anyone ever check out the hSDN forum? It's so sad and miserable... I guess that's what we look like to the med students.

SF to washington? 😱 How long's that drive?

About 15 hours with a few small stops. Couple thst with 6 hour drive to LA. Lots of driving this trip...

In other news.... chillin in the hotel parking lot. Car battery died.... gg.

Ok, so my DO mentor was not too comfortable with Interfolio so he just printed off the letter and mailed it to me. Can I just send this to Interfolio now and they'll scan it and add it to my dossier? I was going to call, but they are closed. Anyone have any experience with this?

Guys I'm in love with the new horse I'm riding. She's perfect.

Went to the outlet for interview clothing shopping and found everything (blazer, pants, 2x dress shirts, shoes) for much less than I thought I'd need to spend -- I'd call it a successful trip given I was shopping at Banana Repulic, Brooks Brothers, etc and still managed to keep it under $200, hahah 😀

That's awesome!! I think I should check out the outlet as well. Have been browsing a bit, but not been completely happy with the selection. hopefully I will find something I like there. Thanks for mentioning this! 😀 👍👍

I'm pretty sure he has to send it in himself.

I'm going to go shopping for my clothes next week. Hopefully I can also keep it under 200 👍

Wow no post for 6 hours? I had to look on the 2nd page in my phone for this thread.

I'm watching Men in Black.

Decided not to wait until next week to get my suit attire and got it this morning.

I look good as f*** in this suit lol

I'm a suit noob so I need to do some serious research before I get mine. Where did you get yours?

lol I'll take some pics later today

I'm poor so I went to Burlington Coat Factory, they have some great deals. Got a nice Perry Ellis dark navy suit for $149.99. Still need to find the perfect tie and get new dress shoes and a better fitting belt.

I can never find clothes that fit. It's obscene. I'm like 5'7 but super tiny. It takes me nine years to find anything. UGH. I'm sure suit shopping will be a pain. Thankfully I can do a skirt which will be a little easier to find than pants.

Do you have a Jos A Bank where you live? "Buy one suit, get 10 free!"

No no no. Their suits fit like burlap sacks. You don't want to show up to your interview in a potato sack. Gross.

Also they always have those TOTALLY RAD SALES (tm) because the markup on their merchandise is ridic.

I have a Jos A Bank suit and it fits me pretty well. I've had it for a while though and I might be getting another suit soon, but I haven't found one that I like that isn't $650.

If it were me I'd get a new one. When they're made so baggy there's only so much a tailor can do. They aren't flattering.

Also I just has a random man stop me on the street and go "are you really on the equestrian team?!?" (I am wearing one of my team shirts) and I just kinda looked at him and went "yup." And he proceeded to get extremely excited and goes "so do you get to like, gallop on horses?!?!?" And I again just kinda laughed and went "yup." And he like freaked out it was ****ing spastic and hilarious. People creep me out.

ha, there is one but their prices are outrageous. I'm on a budget

I have a new suit from them too and it fits me well. Most other suit places had lower quality for equal or higher prices.

Guys we need one of those private chat room things. Way easier!

omg can the men of SDN please stop posting threads/posting in threads like the "worth it for the chicks" thread????

I know the M/F ratio on SDN is like 85/15 but those threads are absolutely alienating (and horrifying to read) to those of us who are female (or at least I feel that way)...
