I really wish med school admissions departments were more communicative with applicants. AMCAS should put up new regulations saying schools have a maximum time of one month to let an applicant know of a decision/hold/rejection after interview.
 
I am currently running on 0 sleep after writing a 33 page rough draft for my history class.

I was going through some Canadian threads to prep for MMI a while back and I noticed that for some schools in Canada, they tell you your percentile ranking pre-interview and your percentile ranking post-interview... I was wondering why US schools can't be that transparent...

Try 200x3000 all for work lol. My computer was lagging so slowly because of that document. When I finally sent it to my PI and closed the file, my computer went back up to speed again lol.

UMich is pretty good at being transparent. Except for the fact they send emails talking about twitter chats/update website that give me mini-heart attacks ...........

Tell me about it. I had the same issue trying to fly out from CA. So hard to miss only one work day when you're flying across the country...

Red eyes unfortunately become your best friend ... Or possibly try to reschedule to a Monday interview so you can leave on Sunday.
 
To add to my frustration just found out I booked my interview date on the same day as my final for my bio class FML

They started adding cats I wasn't familiar with and didnt post much in this thread and I felt it would likely continue, so a brother had to see his way out before it got crowded with ppl I don't know like that.

I left the group and still had cats I've never talked to in this thread sending me friend requests lol

All requests getting denied unless you cute

Yeah, I tried to do as many Mondays as I could. There never seemed to be many red-eyes leaving from my local airport.

I can't blame you or ChemEngMD for doing what you did. It's a right move on your part because of various anonymity issues. Admittedly, this is pretty much the reason why I don't have a profile pic on. I'm just surprised it actually happened to you guys and my apologies for that. I was hoping it would be a redirect from the stress-filled SDN but I guess it got worse than expected. 🙁

Not your fault, no apology needed. You can't control what other people do and I'm sure your intention was good. I just like to keep a tight knit FB page because I'm known to post some rather ratchet stuff on there.

Well we had another conversation just two pages ago!

On another note, I do understand where you guys are coming from. I never posted much on SDN until pretty recently partially because I was always afraid of being banned (since SDN bans a ton of people), but also because I'm more private. But I figured that I've learned a lot from other SDNers who post a lot on here and give valuable info and that's when I decided to join in on everything. Initially, I was skeptical about joining the facebook group too (being a very private person myself), but behind all of our avatars and the anonymity of the internet (and all the top buffer posts, very deep and reflective TOP!), we're all people, and what makes us more special is that we're all trying to get into medical school. We're all working towards the common goal of becoming doctors and colleagues sometime in the future. I figured that you have to trust people to a certain extent anyway, and getting to know who my future colleagues will be and who the actual people are behind the anonymity of the internet are the reasons why I joined.

I talk with interviewees and med school students about SDN (because they bring it up), and they always say that SDNers are crazy and neurotic. One med student told me that SDNers don't deserve to get into med school because we're so crazy. But people always fail to realize that we're all quirky and weird in reality, but we just don't show it to people face-to-face. That whiny poster whom everyone flamed could have been your best friend or classmate, and the reason why people do what they do on the internet is because we can hide behind the thick walls of the internet and not worry about being judged in real life. Plus we don't always have to own up to what we say either. If things get bad, people can always just leave, which is harder to do in real life.

You rang?? 😏 So SDN sabbatical fail... I don't think I stayed off for even a whole weak.🙁 I guess I'll just try to avoid the school specific threads as much as possible so I don't get too stressed out!
 
Man, I need to learn the abbreviations for the new emoticons, hahah (I really mostly use SDN mobile). If you've noticed that I've been using 👍 a lot, it's because it's be only one I remember.
