Class Of 2018!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
At this point I'm open to anything, but I know what you mean. Right now I'd prefer to live in a medium size city (idk if its really considered medium but I'm thinking ~500,000). My current town is effectively < 50,000 and this is the biggest city I've lived in. I applied to a handful of NYC schools but actually think I'd feel pretty daunted moving to a city of that size. 🙄
Right? City life is nice. I like having diversity and lots of food choices. 😛
Truth. Ok Class of 2018, if you could pick any US city to live in (cost not being an option), what would it be??? I think I would say Philadelphia!
San Fran or LA. Love those two cities. Seattle will always have my heart but the grayness can get to me ... Loved Boston when I visited and wouldn't mind living there either. Richmond is decent too. Close to DC and good city.

I think I'd come back to Boston, but the cost of living makes me cringe. I just got a letter saying if I don't renew my lease right now (almost a year in advance) my rent will go up to $1750...Are you kidding me? I live in an average 1 bdrm apartment, it isn't worth half that, haha.

Holy Hell 😱. I pay $425/month and I pay more than some of my friends!

NYC. If you go for big city living why not go for the biggest of them all

I love Minneapolis, but I'd probably say Tampa Bay or somewhere in North Carolina - mid size cities.

Or boston haha

Spent a few days in Tampa little over a year ago. Greatest time of my life.

Little too hot to live long term, though.

NYC is full of some mean people. :*( I feel like I would be better off in a city with slightly nicer people. I did grow up there, so maybe...Also, I would not live in a city with really attractive women, especially ones with tans. (Like...Miami...or LA). I know that's weird, but honestly, some places just have women that are way too attractive and it's so hard to compete. lol. Seattle, Philly, Boston, or Chicago, I think. With Seattle, the lack of sun would really get to me. It's an amazing city, though. Chicago's wind isn't my favoritest. I've never been to Boston, but I imagine it's nice.

What!!! I'm offended I qualify as a mean person. 😀

I said "some" lol. You're not mean, but one time I had a really bad experience at the airport with some racist jerk employee. And I've never felt like the target of racism in the south. I've only ever experienced it in the midwest and NY. How weird is that? I also dropped my toy as a child and watched as people stepped on it instead of stopping and picking it up for me. Childhood trauma...

NYC or LA. I guess I fit the stereotype that NYC people want to go to Cali...

Aww that's so mean!!! But haha I know what you mean. Some people in NYC have an attitude.

Haha Hanover was nice college town still. And the whole campus was gorgeous. But yes, they only have 2 taxi services and one of them is run by a lady and her own car. I'm not even sure she had a permit to be a taxi driver...

New Hampshire is the free state. People can literally do whatever the heck they want in New Hampshire. Live free or Die.

Chi-town got it goin' on, and New York is the city that we know don't sleep, and we all know that LA and Philly stay jiggy, but on the sneak Miami bring the heat for real.

That being said, CHICAGO.

If you grew up in NYC, Boston would not be nice. I felt like I had a target on my back the entire time I was there. How about 'dem sawks?

+1. I suppose it is wrong that I generally assume people on the internet are men. I guess its because I'm a guy. Do the women on this thread assume everyone is a girl?

True. They have absolutely no taxes there either. No state income tax either. OMG that means my paycheck would be significantly bigger!

YES. NYC and Boston are complete opposites.

I read this NPR thing about how Boston women are overworked, tired, and pasty. Thats ok though, I like pasty. I think tans are kind of 90s at this point.

And I second the motion for @SilentSoldier story time.

oh oh! Somebody that agrees with me about NYC! I'm not a big fan cause the people seem so mean ... although I've heard from other people that people are nice. Then again, it's now been six years since I've been to NY so might just have been my being young. NY schools should give me an II so I can get a new perspective of NY. 😛

Also, if you don't like mean people, you won't like Seattle. We supposedly have this "Seattle Freeze" in which we're pretty cold to non-Seattlites. Which can be pretty true ... Probably due to the gloomy weather all the time. Not enough vitamin D for everybody .... hahaha (But honestly, Seattle is AWESOME. We have the best summers compared to anybody. If anybody visits here, be sure to contact me. I'll show you guys around. 😀)

Is it story time yet? @SilentSoldier

Btw, @joonage, did you see this video of SimonandMartina? It's so hilarious!

I want story time too! And I haven't watched it yet ... Haven't been up to date with eatyourkimchi 🙁 I'll check it out when I get home though!

Really storytime? its not really that interesting though

Okay...that's the third time I've gotten that. Why do I come off as male online? Was it the football comments? -____-
+1. I suppose it is wrong that I generally assume people on the internet are men. I guess its because I'm a guy. Do the women on this thread assume everyone is a girl?
Nope. I assumed you were a guy. Your name and picture kind of relay that. I think I assume someone is a girl if there are a lot of exclamation points or if their username is girly. I guess I would I assume I was a guy too if I saw myself on the internet. (that would be weird...)

I'll move to Seattle when I'm done with med school, lol. UW was just way too competitive. I didn't apply...plus, I don't want to be that far from my family... I love the music scene in Seattle. And I did not get the impression that Seattlites were mean at all. Everyone was really friendly!

I made an avatar! Now maybe I won't get mistaken for a guy, lol. Brownie points to anyone who can tell me who my avatar is! 😛

Karla Crome. But in that picture she kink of looks like a guy 😉. Which is funny because I googled her and in real life she's beautiful.

Lol I liked that you changed everything in your profile to make sure everyone knows you're a girl. I remember Ismet used to have something under her avatar that said she's a girl, but even with that everyone used to refer to Ismet as a guy.

No idea why, I just assume every is a dude until they expressively state otherwise.

And the brownie points go to cybermaxx!!!!! She looks like a guy, because she's wearing a community service jumpsuit--- this is a picture of her from Misfits. Have you seen it? AWESOME show. I love British television...It's on Hulu!

Oh, and happy belated birthday to your SDN persona!

The 30th Street Station is really pretty. 👍

Chicago, but that doesn't totally count since I already live in the suburbs lol. DC, I think--I loved the culture/atmosphere when I visited for a week two falls ago, but it's so expensive there...fits cost not being a consideration. 😉

And I don't automatically assume gender on here until people make it obvious...as a female on here (part of the 10% haha), I hate assuming people are guys when so many people do the same for me (or did, until I made it clear I wasn't). 😛

I just watched an episode of house hunters with this girl who goes to Ross Univ. Vet School. If we think it sucks to go to the caribbean for med school, can you imagine how hard it must be to get a job after caribbean vet school? Geez...

House hunters is fake right (ie that thee people on the show have already bought the home they wanted and the other two are just random houses, some of which aren't even on the housing market)?

Oh. Wow, looks like you're right. What is this world coming to when we can't even trust HGTV?

Lol people question whether Love it or List it is real too. Masterchef is also apparently scripted.
