Omg... my Nexus 5 popped out of my pocket, fell on the ground, and the screen shattered. WTF. I hadn't even taken the factory screen cover (logo and everything) off :dead: It's only a month old, hope my credit card company will cover it. For those of you who have broken your screens before, have any of you gotten coverage for the screen replacement?

That sounds awful. What a crappy phone 😕

Props to you for having your phone for a month and resisting the urge to get that instant peel-off satisfaction.

I was trying to be super cheap and use it as a screen cover LOL

Ugh seriously super sad 🙁
Apparently other users have put it facedown on a table a little roughly and the screen cracked derp

Ouch! I had to remove that film within the first week. Seeing Nexus5 on everything was too much. I hope your credit card company covers it.

Did you have a cover on your phone? I use a cheap bumper and it has protected mine so well. I dropped it on asphalt the other day and it bounced twice. No damage.

Noo I've never used a case before (pretty much never drop phones... this one is just so big that it popped right out of my pocket!) so I didn't 🙁 As soon as the screen is replaced...into a giant squishy container it goes, jeez. Which case are you using? The phone is just so pretty without one that I feel bad about sticking it in a big bulky case.

I hate bulky cases too. I'm using Spigen SlimArmor. I think it was like $5 on Amazon.

Ebay is your friend! Never pay more than $5 for a case.

I paid ~$40 for mine, although I literally drop my phone all the time so it's worth it for me. My 2 year contract has expired and my phone is still in perfect shape 😀 The cases, on the other hand...

Oh bother, that's annoying. Then it's more... I wish my school/the postal service worked over the weekend lol!
I'm pretty sure the last transcript was delivered on the 9th. But of course AMCAS is behind in receiving them. I am just kicking myself for not realizing I needed that last transcript. I really want to be verified by the 27th.

That's almost a week ago...I would think that "verifying" a transcript means sticking it in the right file to match the AMCAS ID. Fingers crossed! 12 days sounds like plenty?

Hang in there!

Am I the first individual to post in this thread who is actually already accepted into the class of 2019? I should've been 2018 but I have had to defer which is quite lame.

Nah, someone else is in the same boat. I forgot who... For some reason Yoda keeps popping into my head, so I think his/her avatar is Yoda haha. Deferring and then going to Stanford, I believe. I want to say it's @jeghaber ?

Early morning sneaky post

😏

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh man we're getting close to D-Day...

Is it considered cheating to create an opportunity for yourself?

...............TOO LATE. BOTTOM

Nah, a steal like that may be 😏 and :vomit:, but it's still a steal. Just got to wait for the next 50 posts...
Yeah, I didn't like the way it sounded after I posted it lol

Why did you have to defer? And we're hoping to be accepted sometime this year 😉

I had two options: perish or undergo surgical evisceration. Inflammatory bowel disease can present pretty stark treatment options once it stops responding to medical therapy. Laparoscopic proctocolectomy on 06/03 with two more additional surgeries this year. The surgery schedule and ensuing restrictions/recovery times would have been too disruptive to attend. I produced letters from three different physicians requesting a deferral. The school was gracious enough to grant the request.

This made me sad 🙁 I hope everything is okay now:xf:

Thankfully with ulcerative colitis, surgery is curative. There are risks for extraintestinal manifestations but they are pretty slim. If I had Crohn's and it was as severe as I had ulcerative colitis, I probably would have perished. Thankfully my insurance covers Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. They are the pioneers of laparoscopic colectomy. Saved me a great deal of pain over an open approach. Give me a year to recover and I'll be ready to rumble!
