Thank you!! And right back at ya! Starting to wonder how plausible my work full time + interview plan is this year but i am definitely completely floored and thrilled. So much more exciting knowing that we all get to celebrate all these steps along the way together!
:smack: Did not even notice that you received two II's today before Sunflower mentioned it. Congrats:banana:

Oh my gosh, I know. I'm supposed to do research 20 hours a week, work 10 hours a week, and go to school fulltime next year.... hopefully my employers and professors are understanding and lenient, cause interviews come first! Which is weird, since school has always been my number one priority.

I'm so happy that you guys are all so supportive and encouraging and enthusiastic and inspirational! It is going to make this process less anxiety-provoking, I agree 🙂 Because now I'm not just invested in my own cycle, I am really interested in everyone's here. So even if things don't go well for me, I can celebrate things going well for others! And when things go well for me, other people will also be getting good stuff too, so we can celebrate together! How cool. Thanks everyone for being awesome!

Well today was rather fruitful! Congrats on congrats on congrats to all you lucky ducklings who landed IIs! It's going to be one exciting autumn.

Let's hope that tomorrow follows a similar trend... :turtle: :turtle: :turtle: (Not much for speculation, but I'm crossing my fingers that USC starts their IIs this week and that they look favourably upon the stupid nickname I came up with).

USC would be great. I have my fingers crossed really tightly for both of us!! I just love the campus and school, and it'd be great to have an interview on our side of the country, don't you think? Here's to hoping you get awesome news tomorrow or the next day!

edit: top....! 😀

Have you been to LA before? Keck is super close to home for me, so my friends/family have been positively hounding me for news. However, I would not be opposed at all to moving to the l'east coast – part of me is dying for a change in scenery. (Gah, oh my lord you are going to have an amazing time at NYU).

I did A Bad Thing and went through some of last year's school threads, which ended up getting me really hyped about pretty much all the schools I applied to ahaha. You should emotionally distance yourself from your app, but I know I am going to be utterly heartbroken when my rejections come in. 🙁 Honestly, I'd be over the moon to attend any of the schools I applied to.

I have, yeah! I toured USC when I was applying to undergrads. I really loved it, but thought it was too big for me. So I'm excited to apply to the med school instead! Yeah, I wouldn't be opposed to moving to the other coast either, but it'd be nice to have an interview that doesn't require me to switch time zones and three days of school 😉 Not that I'm complaining, though. Don't get me wrong. I'm positively STOKED for all of my interviews. I am spending the whole weekend in NYC when I'm there for NYU, and I'm soooo excited to explore the city.

I am going to do that soon about the schools I have interviews at, but I'm not ready to do it about the schools I haven't heard from... I don't want to experience that kind of heart break! Though, luckily for you, I bet rejections are gonna be few and far between.

I want to make that clear too. I would be thrilled to attend ANY of the schools on my list -- that's why I applied. And I feel so thankful to have the opportunity to tour and interview at these amazing institutions.

Same here. I didn't put down a single school that I wouldn't actually attend if it was my only acceptance, and I applied to 22. @sunflower18 can attest that I applied really broadly and strategically due to fit as well.

Omg you didn't even acknowledge your top!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just booked my first interview accommodations. :greedy: Owowowow even with airline points/student hosting, this is going to cost a pretty penny.

There should be a FAP-esque program to assist with interviewing costs for disadvantaged students. I don't come from a disadvantaged background – and this whole process has been extremely hard on my finances. I cannot imagine what this must be like for the folks who do qualify for FAP. 🙁 My heart goes out to anyone financially struggling... higher education shouldn't be so cost prohibitive.

I'm feeling left out, but Wake Forest finally sent me a secondary so that made my morning. So far no rejections, but I'm looking at you Vanderbilt.

I definitely expect that this thread will burst with great things really soon. In fact, I have a good feeling about today!! Surge today, surge Friday, flood next week! You guys are phenomenal and will surely get some good news here really soon. I'm looking forward to congratulating you on all your amazing successes 🙂

I like your optimism! May your words prove true for us all!!

Ooof. Looks like Monday's surge was just a tease. Hoping for more action tomorrow and Friday!

Here's a photo of a sleepy Klee Kai to ease your hump day blues. If I get into medical school, it'll be the first time in my life that I won't have a dog at home. ;___;

But thank goodness for extra-long incubation periods, so I can browse for pictures of miniature huskies and sift through SDN.

As for IIs: next week better deliver.

Same here -- although I'll be over the moon to get in, it'll be sad to leave behind my little best friend. We'll just have to rely on skype calls (granted my dog tends to look away rather pointedly when presented with a screen) and photos! And yesss crossing my fingers for some good news at least next week (but there are still two more days left this week!) :xf:

Uh-oh, you guys. I'm starting to fall in love with some of the schools on my list. This could end in heartbreak.... but I can't stop myself from reading about the schools and imagining myself getting involved with all of the fabulous opportunities.... AHH this is unhealthy hahaha

Better to read about your schools early than the night before the interview lol.

Which schools?? Home come?

The worst was writing the "Why Yale?" secondary. 😍 Totally got myself emotionally invested in a school that is – in all likelihood – going to break my heart.

It's so difficult not to envision yourself taking advantage of all of the amazing programs that these schools offer! Any time I write up a "why this school" essay, I fall in love with yet another program. Still, it's good to be excited about your schools -- especially the ones where you have II!

At the moment, NYU. Though I'm pretty enamoured with Penn State and Rochester too. I try to not look too much into the schools I haven't gotten interviews at, lest I be crushed to pieces by swift rejections hahaha. My post about NYU was spurred by my discovery of their Master Scholar Program in Humanistic Medicine. Ahhh beautiful.

I didn't even apply to Yale, but it looks like an amazing school. You definitely have a shot there though! Don't count yourself out!

Edit: That's exactly how I feel about Cornell though. AMAZING but I feel like I have little to no chance of being noticed.

I know, me too. I fell in love with University of Iowa when writing their "why us" essay too, for sure. But I'm trying to strike a balance between being excited and being obsessed with my schools, haha!

Just submitted Temple secondary! Only waiting on Drexel now, which I heard has no essays!! I'm officially done with secondaries (the awful writing and recycling of essays portion, at least)!!

And now you sit... and wait. :scared:

This process really is a test of patience more than anything else. At least with secondaries I had things to do and a constantly-growing checklist of stuff to work on. I'm a real fast-paced, results-driven person so the whole "we'll let you know something between now and next July... or just silently reject you" aspect is driving me up the wall.

But, in the grand scheme of things, these are all laughably minor problems. I guess I just have to sit back and enjoy the wait.

Can't wait to hear about your ECU interview, though! You're going to do swimmingly! :luck:

One of my best friends is applying this cycle. He applied to 23 schools. Guess how many secondaries he got? 23

:wow::wow::wow::wow::wow::wow::wow::wow::wow::wow:

😱 .... many of us applied to just as many if not more 😱😱 ... myself included 😱😱😱

This process is too unpredictable, no one wants to take any chances I guess:shrug: I hope your friend got a chance to pre-write some of those secondaries!

He's applying to MD/PhD programs, which is why he applied to so many. And unfortunately he didn't pre-write any. He is so miserable right now, I almost feel sorry for him...if I wasn't insanely jealous :annoyed:

Lol, are you applying next year?

I tell ya this really is a roller coaster of emotions process! So far I have one II which I was so stoked about but then I found out they give them out to a LOT of people 🙁 Still remaining hopeful though and hoping I wow their socks off for my 10% shot at a seat =]

Whoa! May I ask what school? Most I've seen have a 30-50% post interview shot, cause they typically accept at least twice as many people needed to fill the class. If you're looking at matriculation numbers instead of acceptance numbers, you might be accidentally estimating your chances to be too low!!

Either way though, an II this early on is a big deal and huge accomplishment no matter what. You should be proud of yourself instead of downplaying your achievements! You earned this!!! 🙂

Seize the opportunity! You are incredibly lucky to be sitting with an interview this early. This school obviously sees potential in you, all you got to do is seal the deal. Easier said then done, I know.. but you can do it. Good luck, we are all behind you 🙂

Gonna hop onto this thread! Hopefully, it will be my good luck charm! anyone else nervous (excited) about interviewing? eeeks!

Welcome!!! I'm stoked to interview too 🙂 it'll be such an amazing opportunity to travel and see some great facilities and meet awesome people -- hopefully some of you!!
