So silly (but SO grateful) in the midst of worrying so much about secondaries that my first interview invite is a Texas school that had no secondary. 🙄

But I finally feel like I'm not completely underwater this cycle. Completely loving keeping up with everyone's cycle on this thread as well as all the support provided on here.. it has definitely stopped me in my neurotic tendencies a few times already. :happy:
 
My committee packet is in and I'm finally verified. I guess now's the time to start worrying about how little pre-writing I did for secondaries.:whistle:

Just have to finish Northwestern and do one more essay for Vermont and then I am freeeeeeeeeeee...

...to sit and wait by my computer, frantically refreshing my inbox.

Taking a mental holiday tonight; going to see Snowpiercer and then vegging out in the jacuzzi. 😴 Hope you all have an awesome weekend and that next week will (finally) bring in more IIs.

I have to finish my UCLA secondary tonight. But I'm with @hellanutella -- I refresh my email inbox waaaaay too much. And my status for VCU. But this weekend I think I'm going to just take a break from thinking/worrying about secondaries and invites, which sounds so very blissful 🙂

Why do you need to refresh your inbox? I set it up on my phone, everytime mail comes there is a sweet little sound that let me know. Whatever comes, will come. No need to worry!

My phone annoyingly takes 15 minutes to 1 hour to load emails. Sometimes it even loads them the next day or a few days later. I don't know how to fix it and it's annoying! Any suggestions? It's set to automatically retrieve every 10 minutes...

Bah! Same here. Manually checking seems to always turn up new emails (unfortunately most are just more secondaries rolling in!) I'm anxiously hoping for an II... and now paranoid that my application was so awful that every school is just chuckling at my efforts and moving on 🤔

What phone do you use? I have an android that is linked to my google account, and sometimes I get notifications on my phone before they show up on the computer!

It's still so early in the cycle!! You're going to be great. Keep your hopes up!! Even though your phone, like mine, doesn't seem to be doing you any favours 🙁

It is early, that's true! And thank you. Yeah, it doesn't help that I worry about missing important messages; however, maybe I should make the best of my slow phone and take a break from all this email checking. I bet it adds up to a staggering amount of time each day!

Just submitted my last secondary!! I am starting to prepare for interviews and have my fingers crossed. I am very glad I found a med student to be a mentor for me through student mentor network, I have a lot to learn. Best of luck all. :nod:

Seems like a good service! I am thinking of enlisting my friend and his family for mock interviews, but actual med students are probably even better. Congrats on finishing all your secondaries by the way -- what a good feeling that must be!

Thank you!!! My first interview is at the end of August, and my last is currently mid September. It'll be a busy month!

I'm waiting on Drexel too, and Vandy though I've given up hope on them. I have UCLA sitting in my inbox but I have lost motivation for some reason hahaha I'll submit it tonight, I'm sure. This is the longest I've sat on a secondary.

EDIT: I've given up on Vandy, not Drexel. I realize that that was a poorly worded sentence!

Aww, thank you so much! I'm shocked to have had success so early, but I feel really relieved too. But the process is definitely far from over... Interview prep here I come!

I'm sure you'll get them pouring in soon! You're an amazing applicant and you'll have your pick of excellent schools when all is said and done. Something that I'm slowly realizing, though, is that schools are really concerned about fit. All three of the schools that I've gotten interviews at are really good fits with my interests and experiences. I don't think interviews or acceptances are granted to statistically superior applicants, necessarily -- many institutions want to select a certain type of applicant, and if you're not that kind of person, you probably wouldn't be happy there anyway. I had heard people say that before, but I'm starting to believe it. Everything will work out in a way that is best for you and the schools!

@sunflower18 Fit is absolutely important when playing this medical schools admissions game. I have no ties to WV at all, yet WVU gave me their secondary and their II. Most likely, it's because they love community service and they could tell from my app that I did too.

Congrats to all of you guys with II!!! How exciting! Hoping to get rid of the rest of my secondaries this week (been sitting on them for way too long at this point), and hopefully will hear some good news soon, too!

Oh that's hard :/ Waiting sucks. But just know that when your application is reviewed by your schools, you'll be rolling in IIs before long too! Your numbers are fantastic and I'm sure the rest of your app is amazing too.

Thank you!! :happy: And right back at ya! Starting to wonder how plausible my work full time + interview plan is this year but i am definitely completely floored and thrilled. So much more exciting knowing that we all get to celebrate all these steps along the way together!
