Whooooo booking lots and lots of hotels, but can't log on to check my credit card statement. Who knows how much money I've spent? :dead:

Haha y'all are the best.

Thanks for all the advice - I think I'll go with breaking the plane! 🙂

My conundrum is that due to other (more important) interviews that week (which I had already rescheduled), it is impossible for me to move the test... and I don't want to reschedule an interview at a school twice!

I think I will call / email/ communicate with the school of the interview I can't attend, and if they say no... well... I won't go to that interview.

Is this Pitt? I recall seeing the "interviews cannot be rescheduled save for ebola contraction/plane malfunction" clause (or something like it) on the interview scheduling portal.

I think the best option is just to contact the admissions office. Usually someone will reschedule you in real-time, and I don't think they log all the changes you make to their II dates. 😉 If they loved you enough to give you an interview, they ought to love you enough to reschedule it. And who doesn't love penguins?

So I went through every secondary website for my schools to check my status (so bored guyzzzz). Upon revisiting Mizzou's secondary website, I noticed I had made an error in my diversity essay - I didn't replace a different school's name with "University of Missouri-Columbia." 😱 Curse my copy/paste mentality.

It's actually quite funny because I still ended up getting an II from Mizzou anyway...so they either didn't care when they caught that mistake or they were like, "Meh, applicants are human."

Yup, that's why they say "Never reread secondaries right after submission." When people frantically post "Help! Error in my app! Am I DOOMED?" threads in pre-allo next year, you can pop in and go "Nope, not doomed. I'm living proof." And then you can wave your sure-to-be Mizzou acceptance about.

It varies a lot. From what I read from this site, some admissions officers view that as too careless for them to consider you serious, and others laugh it off with the committee as long as there aren't other glaring errors. Tread carefully.

@hellanutella @moop I would think they considered me serious if they invited me for interview. And no acceptance is guaranteed, but I'm not too worried about this one. There were some nasty negative feedback comments on the Mizzou interview feedback page.

Maybe they're calling you in to ask you what exactly the University of missouri-columbia is because they want to know how to apply for it too.

Please see the above comment and let me know if I'm right. Haha.

If they mention this error, I'll just tell them it was an honest mistake. No biggie. I just can't believe I didn't catch this 2 months ago...

I just booked all my plane tickets for October! So little money left in my bank account....

Also yes, it is pitt! I'm emailing them today and asking for a later date. Hopefully it goes well! If not... well... I guess no Pitt for me 😛

*Edit* Email sent! The wait begins!

Omg I had the best time at my first interview yesterday!!! MMI was actually pretty fun in the end. I fell in love with the school I really can't wait to hear back. I hope they liked me as much as I liked them!!!

Glad you had such a positive experience Sandmeezy! For us future interviewees, what MMI school was it? NYU, Duke, or another one? (If you don't mind sharing of course)...

I personally love it (but have suggestions/concerns noted in the next paragraph). I have an eye for out-of-the-ordinary. I was going to take this lovely briefcase thingie from Estee Lauder to my interview and my uncle (who I was staying with), my sisters, my mom and my best friend said "NO!". I was so bent on taking it I even shaved off a little part of my portfolio and got crafty just so it could fit into this mini briefcase (8.5X11). Alas, I never took it so I never got to hear what my fellow interviewees thought... judging by my family's reactions I suppose there would have been sniggers. I'm curious what folks here think of it (no need to be kind, I already have gotten a prelude by my friends/family 😛)... picture attached

No hope or appreciation for us fashion daredevils in the interview arena 🙁 Although I think that suit is nice, it may not be the best choice for interviewing at the more conservative schools (I hear east coat is generally more conservative). Perhaps you could try it out at the less "desirable" interviews and then see what kind of reaction it draws? FYI there's a thread on this forum in which someone calls the admissions office and asks what to wear and the secretary goes "Black suit. That's it." But I've heard of guys pulling off hunter green, and navy of course always works. Ladies can pull off a dark eggplant...

Personally, I love red/maroon, but there are plenty of people who strongly dislike it. My boss for one has told me many times whenever I wear lots of red, that it raises his blood pressure and scientifically has been "proven" to do so in others 😛

What pants were you planning to wear with those? P.S. If this post was a joke (which I am starting to suspect it is 😕) and I was silly enough to take it seriously, please excuse my comical enthusiasm and long reply 😛

Uh oh... you just engaged @ridethecliche in a conversation regarding menswear fashion. Prepare to get slapped, sartorial style.

It may have been a joke. But at the very least, it generated your hilarious reply!

Haha I'll share, it was Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson! Sorry that mainly limits to NJ residents haha but it's all goodie! I am not on that NYU Duke caliber so I'm sorry if I am of no help.

LOL thanks sunflower, if I was a guy I think I would have a very lackluster interest in fashion 😉

How was Mayo?!?

Think sunflower has Mayo on Monday. We'll definitely need to bombard her for feedback come Monday evening.

PS: I'm going to have a lot of downtime on this interview trip. If anyone is in Chicago the 27th-30th, message me! I'll be roaming local attractions and gorging myself on deep-dish pizza all by my lonesome. ;___;

Also wish I also had the cash/travel companions to hit up The Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Orlando...

I heard that Northwestern serves deep dish pizza to their interviewees!

Thanks guys!!! You're the best!!! Mayo is tomorrow but I am so so so so so in love with it already. I'm going to tell my interviewers that I would 100% attend if accepted. Hopefully they view my commitment as endearing and favourable instead of overzealous!! Ahhhh wish me luck! 🙂

Also I wish I had a magic or sunflower staff..... That'd be crazy awesome oh man.

Also! I want to go to Harry Potter World like no other @hellanutella. Let's go.

I do. Just got it. I think it might be a bit big on me though sadly, so I might end up selling it. Super nice fabric.

But this is how I would have worn it to interviews.

LOL! Is the joke still on? I am SO confused. I feel like the little sister that never gets what's going on hahaha. Why do you own a mannequin???

It's an, ahem, memorable outfit, that's for sure! 😉

OMG me toooooo! Harry Potter *sigh*

And I totally missed that today was Sunday so no interviews. Goodness I need a break! 😛 I saw Rochester in @sunflower18's post and thought "MAYO! Here she comes!"

Moop, don't worry pal. My real name is exotic so no one knows if it's a guy's name or a girl's name until they meet me. I've been to conferences where my table sign is "Mr. Name" It always cracks me up!

Good luck tomorrow!! They will find you enchanting and marvelous, no doubt!

Would you and @hellanutella take a stowaway in your luggage?? I'm dying to go to HP world! I already have my robes and wand at the ready -- and the butterbeer's on me!

So here's the plan - April 30th when we're all in med school, we plan a huge vacation, and all meet up at Harry Potter world, to celebrate our "basically doctor" statuses while also mourning the fact that we just used up all our moneys on med school interviews and will be broke for the next ten years. yayy!

YES!! That would be amazing! We'd be a band of Healers, out for a last hurrah.

I would prefer a different theme park or a trip to the beach, but I like this idea!

Last hurrah before we sacrifice all our time to medicine? I'll bring the alcohol lulz.

Someone once asked me if I wanted a mani-pedi. I guess I misheard them and ended up with a mannequin...

Truth be told, I thrift most of my work clothing. If I find nice stuff that isn't my size. I trade/resell it online, hence the mannequin. My goal was to use some 'seed' money to make my clothing purchases self sufficient, but after I started writing essays and applying that all went totally out the window.

Poppin' bottles with.......loan checks!! YEAH!!!

I literally have no words to describe my day. Mayo is beyond incredible. It absolutely, without a doubt, one hundred percent blew me away. I don't know how my interviews went... I honestly feel like I am vastly inferior to the splendour of Mayo, and expect a rejection come February. But if, by some stroke of insane luck, I got in? My cycle would instantly be over. No questions asked.

Oh please, Mayo needs someone like you. I'm sure the Ice Palace was captivated by your magic!

Hey Hella! I live near the UCF Undergrad Campus, if you're looking for a travel companion/someone to grab dinner with! I can't afford Harry Potter, but I know the area. I'm interviewing there soon too, and I really would love to stay here!
