I continue to be exceedingly jealous of people who can hear news before Nov 15 (when Texas starts accepting students). Happy for you guys, you're gonna be doctors! 🙂

Congrats @gettheleadout for Northwestern! (the least surprising news ever)
Thank you! I'm definitely excited and grateful to be counted among the future doctors starting our training next year. 🙂

Not to mention in the company of all the amazing people here!

Woah nellie, another shoutout to gtlo and @onceawolverine on Northwestern (seriously not suprised)! And @claduva94 on Wayne (ex-Detroiter right here haha)!

I'm excited to see what the remainder of the month will bring us! I'm very, very anxious about the Sinai decisions... whenever they may come. :nailbiting:

I FEEL DAT
Wolverine, you're doing more than stellar with CA! I wouldn't be surprised if you have more IIs just around the bend. Besides, I've lived in LA for the past 10+ years and UCLA won't even give my app the light of day... you're obviously doing something right! 😉

Yay everyone! 😀

I still got nothing...apparently, UNC's 6-8 weeks isn't a hard fast rule, so I have no idea when I'll hear back (it has been 6 weeks since my interview as of today).

So many congrats to everyone getting acceptances the past few days!!!! That's amazing news and I'm so happy for everyone 🙂 I'm not at all surprised by the tremendous collective success in this thread, but I'm super thrilled about it all the same!!

As for CA, I'm so grateful that I have a shot at a California school... I thought they were all gonna totally ignore me. Don't give up hope guys!

If they don't tell you soon I will make sure our football team gives them a proper beatdown this weekend to punish them for making you wait 🙂

I say we save all the committees the trouble and accept all of us everywhere. No more waiting? I'm anxiously waiting to hear from Jeff and Tulane. Their committees don't seem to want to review my application. 🙄

How's everybody doing???? Hopefully all are doing well! Still counting down to my interview.

Anyways, bought tickets last week to go to DC for a week and a half then Ann Arbor/Chicago for a weekend just to visit my friends. Tempted to put in a In the Area email to schools in those areas. 😛

I say go for it! Unless you know for certain that the schools in those areas you applied to absolutely don't accept ITA's, it wouldn't hurt to try.

Hahahaha thanks, but that won't be necessary. The folks at UNC are all really nice, genuine down-to-earth people. I'm sure they are trying their best to make final decisions about candidates while sticking to their "the admissions committee only meets twice a month" deal.

Two WLs this week :blackeye:. WVU (no surprise, they WL 99% OOS:nono:) and Drexel Boooo👎!!!!! :hungover::stinkyfeet::vamp::vomit::yeahright:

YOU WILLLLL! UNC, ECU, EVMS and U Missouri would be crazy not to grab you! You are the perfect candidate!:luck::luck::luck::luck:
Awwww thanks! I disagree with the perfect part, but I'd like to think that I was a good enough applicant this cycle since my premed advisor didn't outright say, "I don't think you're ready to apply this year" like she tells a lot of Wash U students.

I wonder what I would put ..... "I'm in the area" without mentioning a good reason ... xD

Congratulations to the recent interview invites and I send my condolences to the recent waitlists! 🙁 Here's to hoping we get more acceptance action before the week is out!

Enjoy your trip, @joonage! That sounds like an excellent excuse for an ITA e-mail. 😉

And now for a somewhat more boring photo instalment:
image.jpeg

The super shiny medical education center at UCSD, complete with zen-like tree.

The older, less-shiny medical building. The statue is of some nude, Venus-like form with water trickling from its fingertips...
image (2).jpeg

And here's a little hummingbird bathing in the fountain! The dude hovered about there for at least four minutes and really seemed to enjoy himself.
image (3).jpeg

The futuristic Geisel library... because every library ought to look like a spaceship.

And I forgot to take pictures of the beachside. 😳 UCSD was fantastic! I forgot how beautiful the undergrad campus was... I have a feeling I would be so so happy here. 😍 Being <5 minutes from the beach is a pretty sweet deal.

@hellanutella What a CUTE hummingbird!!! Awww

Come to California! We have the most hummingbird species in all of the US (bird nerd alert). 😉

I used to put out a hummingbird feeder during the Rufous hummingbird migration and watch as my backyard would be swarmed with these guys. Sometimes, after living in a city, you forget all that nature has to offer.

Of all my interviews that the Charlottesville Airport could have screwed me over for WHY DID IT HAVE TO BE MAYO?😡

Flight is delayed by over 2 hours which means I miss my flight to Rochester (and it is the last flight to Rochester). So now I have to fly into Minneapolis at midnight, sleep 4 hours in a hotel, and take the 5AM Shuttle from Minneapolis to Mayo. In other words, no shower for me. And I'm already sick and really didn't need this. Ughhhh. Hopefully Mayo gives me pity points 😉

I recommend you still shower before your interview day. And try to spin this event positively if they ask.

Destination, Determination and Deliberation...
It wouldn't hurt to try 😉

Anyway, wishing you good luck regardless of your mode of travel!:luck:
I'm sure you'll do well!!

At the very least it will give you some small talk material for the interview day.

Correct. Best fun fact ever. "Hey guys, I'm claduva94 and I'm a senior in X at UVA. Fun fact about myself is that I only got 3 hours of sleep last night and haven't showered in the past 36 hours!"

There was one poor chap at one of my interviews who staggered in late, with his tie sort of looped around his neck... like he hadn't even had time to tie it. Bet he had an interesting story to tell.

In fact, before my first interview my friend and I were rear-ended by a truck the day before, causing me to whack my forehead on the sun-shade. It left me with a massive red welt right at my hairline (which was starting to bruise by the time I got to the interview). It wasn't pretty, but it made for a good ice-breaker! When in doubt, use an injury and/or sleep-deprivation for comedic relief.

Fun fact: I reread all the Harry Potters during my last 2-week interview spree. Time very well spent. So many childhood memories.
