Because I'm just really curious: How many of you are now DONE with this cycle completely? As in, who here got accepted into the school they will definitely attend next year? Most of you know that if I get that UNC acceptance (plz mighty adcom gods lulz), I'm so done lol.

Not done, but I withdrew a couple of applications today. EVMS is in-state for me so there are only a few schools I would attend over it.

Still have five more to go. Only heard from one school today (wait listed) so I will be continuing on with all 5 remaining interviews unless I receive an acceptance elsewhere. If I do get an acceptance somewhere, I will probably withdraw from four schools.

Wondering about withdrawing--did you book plant tix for some of those later interviews? Airlines always penalize for cancelling, but book too close to the date (like...less than a month in advance) and the prices are ridiculous.

For Miami I am considering just swallowing the price... or taking a two day "interview" vacation...
Haha that and a couple of out OOS schools! Haven't heard anything from UVA though :\
Me neither! Every day I walk past their interviewees :/

Southwest doesn't charge a cancellation fee 🙂 when it goes where I want to go, it's my airline of choice.

Hmm.. I just realized how poorly worded my statement is haha! The only interview I am considering withdrawing from is the one where I decided to take a bus and I purchased those tickets already. I have been trying to be as economical as possible with my interview costs so relying more on amtrak and greyhound for reasonable distances. However, I will be attending the interviews that involve a flight... I also mostly applied to east coast schools so I do not have to do the great cross-country treks!!!! (note: I honestly don't know how you guys manage this!!!)

Aww sorry to hear that. 🙁 It's weird that I've heard from a lot of people this year that their own school hasn't had any communication with them, even if they claim to look at their own students' apps earlier lol. I've also heard nothing from my undergrad while I watch all these other people get IIs, but I guess I've been lucky enough to somehow avoid all the interviewees haha.

Oh whoa for real? That's awesome. Ugh I've been picking whichever flight is cheapest on Orbitz and got totally TRICKED by Frontier--they charge 30$ for a carry on and 15$ to check a bag!! And you don't even get a drink on the flight ..if you want more than one glass of water you have to pay for it 😡

Ah I see, that's a smart way to do it. Yeah the transcontinental flights are destroying me...been catching colds every other flight.

Probably not done yet... still have to hear back from three schools that I really liked, and have an interview next week (although I already cancelled one after today). I'd like to see what opportunities there are for me to study out of state (and in a large city), and there are a lot of schools I've applied to that I haven't heard anything from yet. So, who knows! I'm extremely happy with either of the schools I've been accepted to (to even have a choice now is such a luxury!), so anything else will just be extra awesomeness!

Frontier has some amazing ticket prices, though! I'm going to be flying with them pretty often now that I know how inexpensive it is to fly into Trenton (good heads up about the baggage fees though... yikes, carry ons too?).

I do have my longest flight I have ever taken tomorrow so that should be fun. DC to WI! I am exceedingly paranoid about getting sick from traveling, but I have been lucky so far *frantically knocks on wood.* For flights, I have been trying to pick the cheapest/most convenient ones so I have run into the scenario where they charge for checking a single bag...but luckily I crammed everything into carry-ons!

I wish !! Still waiting on news from Feinberg and to attend my state school's interview! Do you know when you'll hear back from UNC?
Either tomorrow or in a few days. Or there's always the possibility they don't let me know until November or December since they said their committee only meets twice a month. -_____-

$30 for a carry on? That's insane!!!

Spirit charges $36! And that's the cheap price for paying for it in advance. If you pay at the airport it's $100. This past weekend was my first time flying with Spirit and probably my last, lol.

Oh my goodness....I've mainly used the same ~3 airlines when flying, so I've never run into something like that before. Can't blame you for not wanting to go back!

I fly US Airways and United. But I also never check bags since I only bring a backpack...

I still haven't booked my NY flight  I was hoping to group some east coast II's but no such luck since Cornell is my only east coast II thus far 😀

Now I'm scared to look at prices... I will definitely book this weekend though since the interview is only 2 weeks away...

Omg I'm so excited for you! Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats on your acceptance!!!! Sorry about those schools that waitlisted you, I wouldn't sweat it though. You're a rock star applicant and it will be raining acceptances for you soon.

Awww thank you One-Who-Likes-Cookies-And-Got-A-Harvard-II! And I will say it again, you have the best emoticons!!!

I'm sure you'll be sharing the good news in the next couple days 😉

Wow! Awesome to see all the happiness in this thread! Congrats on all the acceptances! Hopefully I can join the acceptance train in November after my interview!

Also, Southwest is having a fare sale until the 16th if anybody wants to book flights for interviews!

Good luck on your interview!!! Blow that panel out of the water !

Woah! Shoutout to all the recent acceptances!

Sadly, after getting a taste of final decisions, I'm really hankering for more feedback.... I just want to know where I'm going to live for the next 4+ years of my life!

Pretty bummed that @turayza and I got deferred till March with Northwestern (greatest weakness = impatience), but ah well. Can't whinge and whine too much; life has been faaaarr too good to me. Think of this as a test of patience.

Best of luck to all those waiting! Got my fingers crossed for @sunflower18 + Brown and @Ace Khalifa + UNC tomorrow!

@hellanutella and @turayza, when did you guys interview for NU just btw? I wanna get an idea of when my decision may come for them. You don't have to be specific just x weeks ago is fine.

Sorry to hear about getting deferred at Northwestern 🙁 But so so so many congrats on getting three acceptances already!!!

I'm in a similar boat. I got into a third school today, one that I really did love (University of Rochester), but I'm feeling a bit mopey about the fact that Mayo made acceptance calls and left me off their list. But I've been incredibly fortunate to get into three wonderful schools, and the cycle is far from over. With the help of a lovely pep talk from @claduva94, I'm staying positive and getting excited to hear from Brown, visit Vermont, visit UCLA (got my date confirmed today!), visit Cleveland, and hear back from all the other amazing institutions I've already been to.

I hope you are all staying positive and happy! Good luck to @Ace Khalifa on UNC and @claduva94 on Tulane and whoever else is still waiting!!

I've waited 6 YEARS to be able to post in an SDN "Class of ___!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (x a billion more !!)" and I'm so happy to report that I received an acceptance from Wake Forest yesterday! To say that I'm both relieved and thrilled is an understatement.

Congratulations to everyone else who was accepted to their programs and chin up to everyone who is still waiting on good news (hug). I am by no means a stellar applicant numbers-wise, so it goes to show that numbers aren't everything!!! 🙂

CONGRATS!!!! That's so exciting!!!!! 🙂

So how does acceptance actually work? When do we have to let them know by? I'm a little confused on this...

Most schools have a late April, early May response deadline

I'm only confused because on MSAR it says "Maximum allowed time for the applicants response to the offer: X weeks". With X = 2-4

You can hold a spot by placing a deposit for whichever medical school. I think the deadline to 100% actually decide is now April 30 (?). Many people pay the deposit to hold a spot or multiple spots until the very end of the app cycle.

So do I have to hold a spot for whatever medical school I am interested in so far? Or can I wait until April 30th (or whenever) to accept the offer? What is the point of holding a spot?
