I am going to be working on homework and studying all weekend too (for a Wednesday Calc exam! Coincidence?) during a huuuuuuuge football game. Not looking forward to beating through the crowds of overweight parents just to get some food so I don't die.

Research is always faster in the summer because that's when you have the least stuff in the way. It's harder to do it during the school year, but my schedule is set up so that I can immediately hit the lab right after class.

What are you guys doing for research? I just started a project with the Neuroscience Department at my UG.

There are three concurrent projects going on, and as a first year Research Assistant, I get to pledge to one. Right now I'm leaning towards a study that's looking into the genetic linkages of the APOE gene to Alzheimer's (yeah, a bit overplayed, but as my preliminary experience in research, I'm actually pretty stoked)!

Worst part about it? 10 hours required per week...idk how I'm going to get that all in while studying for finals and stuff (I'm sort of a worry wart hahaha).

Don't feel like a loser. A lot of people tell me not to start now, because I won't know how to do anything. The more classes you take, the more they'll give you to do. You're fine 🙂 Besides I'm a soph, and I don't have any yet ;]

UNL actually has a pretty cool undergrad research program, UCARE. It gives you your own research opportunity your sophmore/junior year. It's kinda constricting though...you have to finish up in 2 years. Not sure how effective it really is.
