Haha, to be honest they're not sure I have autism either. I was just a really weird, hyper, obsessive kid, and they decided to slap on labels (and ritalin, yay!) until something stuck. Asberger's was just the last diagnosis before my parents decided to stop wasting money on my freaky personality. But still, it's kinda awesome to be a fully functional and intelligent 'autistic'.
I think I'm the opposite, I'm calm yet at the same time I can't focus on one thing for too long or it gets stale.

I'm trying to do the same 1 at a time. Classes are going reaaaaalllly slow this week. Like we never got past sig figs in Chemistry, even though it was our third class.

And you're in Chem 101? 😕 I'm in Intro Chem and we finished those forever ago

Had my first bio lab today (it was cancelled last week) and was partners with one of the other kids in my BS/MD group. Near perfect SAT's, all 5's on his AP exams...this guy made me feel like such an idiot, especially when we had to figure out the size of the NaCl crystals in μm (micrometers). However, in a thinly-veiled attempt to make up for my own academic shortcoming, I'm 99.9% sure he has Asperger's. He was really giddy when we took out the microscopes.

Time to turn up studying one more notch.

I like microscope too...but I don't have Aspergers 😀

I learned to hold in all the crazy. I learned to sit still and appear calm for hours at a time. Now people can only tell when I open my mouth.

And I only ever obsess over things I enjoy. It wasn't like "OMG THE PRICE OF WHEAT OMG" for five straight years of my life.

(It was OMG CHAOS THEORY OMG)

I'm like that for a little while, then I get bored. 😀

The sad thing is that it's Chem 101. We'll be moving into basic atomic structure next class. And I mean reaaaaaallllly basic. So far, I haven't managed to fall asleep in class yet.

You could very well be non-autistic!

I get really giddy too whenever I get to see microscopes! But I don't have Aspergers.

God, I hated kids like that in high school (yeah I'm a hater right now), but seriously you have to wonder what the hell their parents did to them when they were younger. They were probably deprived of a normal childhood.

Unfortunately, aspergers is genetic. On the other hand, there are non-Aspergers kids whom you can only wonder about...

I like microscope too...but I don't have Aspergers 😀

+1

just relaxing!!

it feels like someone just punched me in the back..ever get that? 😕

how about you??
how was class?
oh and I'm not short I'm 5'6!! xD

Haha. I'm trying to work on HW.

Sorry, but I don't know what that feels like. Everybody's too scared by my hugeness to punch me in the back. And everything looks tiny and fragile when you're 6' 10" and have guns of steel *.

I'm kinda running out of juice. How about you?

(*I wish)

It's chem hw. Wanna chat on FB?

For him, it's worse than that, trust me.

That's partly the reason I switched into Honors Chem last week. But its kinda kicking my butt right now 🙁 prob b/c I didn't take AP Chem. But I guess I like that I have a hard class to study for.

Looking forward to big tailgating event and frat party this weekend though.😀

On the bright side, you'll be more prepped for the MCAT! 🙂
I think my class feels really slow to me because I've already seen all the material throw AP Chem, but it's always good to have a challenge that keeps you on your toes.

Me jelly of your BS/MD program...

I thought you were. Or was that just Gigatron and Neurosis?

Just me, I guess. Though as the years go by, and more users register, there may be more 2019ers who are in BS/MD programs.

On an unrelated note, WHY DOES EVERYONE ALWAYS FORGET TO PUT THE "N" IN MY NAME? :annoyed:

It's spelt "Gigantron" because then its pronunciation becomes: "Jye-gan-tron" 😎

if you don't mind me asking, how'd you get into a bs/md program in the first place.

Not at all. Here's a basic definition of what they are: http://www.collegeadmissionspartners.com/college-admissions-counseling/bs-md-combined-programs/

What I did basically:

-Applied to undergrad + med school at the same time (this was done by indicating I was a BS/MD applicant)
-Got accepted to undergrad -> waited for an interview invite from the med school
-Got an invite -> attended interview
-Was accepted to BS/MD program

Congrats!

Do you have to maintain a minimum GPA?

No it's not that I don't like Biology, it's just that I'm more interested in behavior than cellular biology/genetics. The only reason I was going to be a bio major was because my parents coerced me into it. But in the end I'm going to med school anyway, so my major isn't going to matter, and if I'm going to spend the next 4 years studying something it only makes sense to study something I find interesting (my grades reflect my interest in a subject).

Yeah, that makes total sense. It's hard to do well in something that you don't like. Have you also started doing research?

Hey guys just realized that I'm really bad at simple math. 🙂

Hey guyz, realized i tat gramhur and speling i bad at.

I think you have to be a sophomore and/or taken certain classes to start research. but it's all good.👍

i don't think there's any exceptions on the matter, i could ask if could start next semester though.

That's a really dumb rule. Is it university policy? And there are some professors who might let you come by and "train" until you become a sophomore.

A couple peeps and me skipped Calc today b/c it's so mind numbingly slow like my reg Bio class.

I also get a kick out of them advertising the pre-med frat/club etc. and seeing the type of people that join are in it. Completely typifies the stereotypical neurotic pre-med haha.

I think so, but I'll see if I can get some teacher/grad student to overlook the rule.

honestly, the kids in my bio/chem class don't seem that bad. But then again most of them aren't pre med, thank god.

There are two pre-med clubs at my univ. I haven't attended either, but one has a snazzy website, their newsletters are professionally made, and what looks like actual membership organization. The other I first encountered at the club fair. They had a 8x11 sheet of paper stapled to the front of their table with the words "PRE-MED" written on front.

Makes me want to join the second one and take it over for the resume padding. 🙄

  :cry  i cant stop crying i did something super stupid today

what? 😕

I just cried about being 3 minutes late submitting my homework. Called my professor (even though he said only for emergencies), hysterical, profusely apologizing. He then told me that he put the wrong date. I've reached a new low you guys.

done crying..

:scared:

are you usually emotional?

yeah crying is literally my only outlet.

I never cry. I go to martial arts dojos and flip men twice my size into walls.

To each their own

And don't worry, today I began to hyperventilate when a prof. told me that he wouldn't be accepting homework that wasn't stapled. It took him 5 minutes of ranting before he conceded acceptance of loose sheets for the day.
