Hey guys. Update!

Classes are good. Not too exciting. Love ochem, hate physics -- no surprises there. On an unrelated note, I'm really going to try and lose weight this semester, and develop better lifestyle habits. It's hard, though! Do you guys have any tips on healthy snacking, how to conquer cravings, or how to study/be productive while working out? I know most of y'all are dudes, which means your tips don't necessarily cross over to me, but any advice is good advice. It's time to lose the weight I gained as a freshman!

Silverturtle, how was your first day?

Drink a cup of water before every meal. It helps to fill you up.
Don't midnight snack!
Eat your veggies/greens before going for the carbs/fattier foods of a meal.

These things helped me lose weight gained from freshman year haha

And my these first days went well! My classes should be interesting (except for orgo, kill me). If sectioning works out, I wont have anything on Fridays so I'll have a 3 day weekend every week! Though I'll have 9 hours of class/lab on Mondays...whatever. I'd rather have a front heavy week.

Glad your first days went well! Speaking while in my third week of classes...

Does anyone think that physics and orgo got harder this semester...?

I'm only taking physics 1, so I dunno! Organic chem doesn't seem much harder yet but it might get hard soon. I love ochem though.

I think chirality is kind of the coolest thing ever! Now physics... That is evil.

Oh its cool alright...I just think it will be the death of me.

Physics is the devil...but otherwise organic is like relearning my native language... 😍

Maybe it was just because my teacher was the man, but I really liked physics when I took it in high school. Granted, I haven't taken it in college yet so it probably will be a completely different story...

My high school chemistry and physics professor meant well, but he was not a good teacher. He wanted to get a PhD and do research, but he just never did and got stuck teaching all his life because he couldn't justify quitting a paid job to do something uncertain. Poor guy. But he hated kids, and made those classes not super fun. But I love chemistry now! So I hoped I would love physics too. But nope. It's the math. Math sucks.

Math sucks? Orgo has math in reactions.

Math is soooo not my thing. And hardly! There is barely any math in ochem.

I am currently a chem major, but might switch just so I don't have to take physical chem... :scared:

No pics out of respect for my ochem exam, which I failed with a 60%

On the bright side, talked to the physics department today. Would only lose a year if I drop premed and get a degree in physics.

Awww 🙁

Are you considering doing that?

Guys i really really really hate physics seriously a lot.

check out this woman at Yale-New Haven Hospital:
Anees B. Chagpar MD, MSc, MA, MPH, FRCS(C), FACS

that is absurd

Not even a PhD, why bother waking up in the morning?

:ninja:

what can I say? You guys light up my world.😉

We do what we can. 😎

Pfft. That's nothing. She's not a PhD, nor a JD nor an MBA. Except for MD and FACS, others are irrelevant.

only six? She is quite the underachiever.

It's only two (MD and FACS). The other four is to inflate the name recognition.

Picture doesn't work. 👎thumbdown

Yes....this...

Indeed.

Getting those masters still takes time. More time than you'd think a breast cancer surgeon would have.

I think that MPH is worth mentioning too, especially if she was doing public health type outreach.
