Hahahah sounds like a very long day.... holiday shopping is brutal. You could schedule yourself a practice exam 🙂
She would have never gone for that lol she knows everything:ninja: ... you guys have no idea how hard it was to find a playstation 4 for her little brother
last final in 2.25 hours. UGH.
I hope you killed the exam :xf:

I hope it went well!!! 🙂

Thanks you too lol

Speaking of Santa, I'm suppose to go with my gf to do some holiday shopping for some friends and family today. Since I'm on break I have no excuses to get out of it :help:

Awww that sounds fun! But maybe not fun if you don't like shopping... I really need to go get gifts too. Darn.

What is everyone on break doing? Took a week off, now I'm hoping to start volunteering and shadowing for the next few weeks. I might start pre-writing secondaries for schools I know I will definitely apply to. Also, I should probably contact my letter writers?

Good idea!! I was supposed to shadow an oncologist today, but I woke up feeling very unwell, and didn't want to cough all over a bunch of immunosuppressed patients. So I stayed home and will reschedule for hopefully next week or the week after!

I am writing my personal statement and activity descriptions. I am also going to make a spreadsheet of the schools I want to apply to and their secondary questions from last year. But I focused on my PS today, and I have a working draft! So that's exciting! Except it's 7000 characters... So much cutting to do!

I'm not quite sure when to contact letter writers. I want to do it in person though. Maybe a few weeks after the semester gets started so that they are not as overwhelmed, but I still give them plenty of time? I'm not sure. How many letters are you guys all getting? I'm thinking 3 science, 1 non-science, and one from my non professor PI. Maybe one from a doctor, maybe one of my bosses? I don't know. I need to look at LOR requirements for all my schools.

I hope it went well!!! 🙂

We almost spent 5 hrs shopping 😱... whats worst is we are not done 😢

Oh and btw, get some sleep or something! You need to get better 🙂

Aside from studying for the MCAT, I will be writing essays all break. I think I will ask for LOR's in person in Feb or March though. Other than that I'll just keep volunteering I guess. Some of my professors I wanted letters from don't teach at my school anymore apparently. Darn it!! I kissed so much a**... FOR NOTHING!!!!! +pissed+ In all seriousness, do you guys think its worth it to track them down for a letter?

Reminds me of this..... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...h-girlfriend-insisted-going-clothes-shop.html

Track them down! Do you think they remember you?

You're starting on secondaries? I don't even want to think about it -__- What's your school list looking like so far?
I started my PS too, it takes a ridiculous amount of time. Not sure what is an exciting first sentence.... to an adcom, nothing is exciting anymore hahahah.

I think my letters are going to be: 2 science, 1 non-science, PI, boss, physician. Maybe hospital volunteer coordinator, but I just applied to start volunteering. Do you think it's important to remind letter-writers to write on stationary and sign? When I reminded my first letter writer, he gave me a kind of "duh" look...oops.

It might be better to ask your letter-writers in person, so you can gauge them on their eagerness/confidence (and say "or if you're too busy, it's okay..." to give them an out if they don't sound enthusiastic). Early next term would be a great time to drop in and talk to them, which gives them a solid 5 months (1 month to get around to doing it, a week to actually write it, another month buffer thrown in for things out of your control, and 3 months to spare! Woohoo!)

No, I'm not starting on secondaries! I'm just going to put together a spreadsheet listing the prompts from last year. My school list is 30 schools... Yikes oh man. It's so many. But I really have looked into all of them, and I really like them! I have 5 schools with avg MCAT scores <32, 15 schools with MCAT 32-34, and 10 schools with MCAT >34. Just in case the reach schools like my GPA/ECs or are having an off day and happen to click "interview invite" instead of "reject". Haha.

I thought about hospital volunteer coordinator, but decided like... what would they say? They haven't even seen me in action. So I decided against it. If your coordinator is more hands-on, maybe go for it. I am definitely going to remind them about stationary and signing -- maybe I'll just include the reminder in the packet of stuff I give them (with my PS, resume, etc).

Ooooohhh my god that is terrifying. That poor girlfriend must be traumatized forever.

Ugh I've been writing my PS all day and I revised it a whole bunch and now I'm realizing that I might not have answered "why medicine" well enough. Which is like the stupidest mistake ever. I don't even know. And my beginning, which I was thought was cool, is apparently cliche. Oh my gosh. This is freaking me out.

You're writing it 6 months ahead of time. I think you're fine.

I totally know how you feel -___- and then you are satisfied, come back to look at it in a couple days, and think "if I were an adcom, I'd throw this in the recycling"....
Beginnings are so hard to write!!

I found this really helpful for brainstorming: https://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/642/01/
Writing train-of-thought (...there's a word for it...can't remember...) brought up a lot of things that actually made me excited about medicine that I probably wouldn't have thought to include in my PS otherwise 🙂

on a serious note, I've take 4 chem classes, but only 1 physics.

I agree with one of the above posters -- I find the whole blonde hair, blue eyes thing boring. Sure, she's pretty, but she looks exactly like 239057209582 other blonde hair, blue eyed pretty people (IMHO).

I guess I might be biased cause I'm not really a huge fan of blonde hair, in guys or girls. Hmm.

Indeed. :naughty:
