They do all cover the same things but the approach is different. It all depends on how you like to learn and study. If you are doing great on the practice exams keep using whatever you are using. I was going to follow SN2ed's schedule then decided to use TBR's schedule since I had the new complete set. I modified it using EK and have been getting pretty good results.

I am taking it in Jan but have been contemplating pushing it back. I am very strong in Bio and Verbal but my PS is so-so and I'm risking having an off balance score though the total score is good.

When are you taking it?

I will probably be taking the 2015 MCAT so I'm wondering when to start studying since I don't think there are books out for the new MCAT yet. I'll probably start reviewing physics this semester and finish up the prereqs in the meantime.

I'm done with physics and math, I'm finishing up organic chemistry and writing in the spring semester, and I will be taking some kind of upper class biology and chemistry classes along with biochem sometime after that, haha.

Happy hols! I'm taking it in May. Kind of dumb now that I realize my scores aren't out until the third week of the cycle (...derp). Yeah the 2015 MCAT is like a big mystery... not sure if there will be prep books pre-exam that accurately portray it until a couple years after the changes. But everyone will be going in blind heheh.

Oh nice nice. I've heard EK's verbal practice book (1001 passages??) is really good, have you tried that? I mixed up my books; the one I finished was TPR, not Kaplan. It was pretty thorough with good placement of practice, but I haven't taken a practice exam since I started studying, so who knows 🙄

Haha you're at a better place than me! I don't think I'll be prepared enough in may do I'm going to do June I think :/

On the plus side, you can submit your app sans MCAT as soon as its open, since AMCAS takes a couple weeks to process!
 
I've been doing nothing all day but eat, sleep, and play video games. It's wonderful.

Yeah I have used all of EK's verbal books and they have been good for me so I would recommend it. When will you be taking a practice exam?

Got drunk with friends and watched tv. So nothing exciting at all.

I can't believe there's already only one week left until I head back to campus. I still have so many shows to marathon and games to play. Classes don't start until the 13th though.

Hung out with my girlfriend and her family for New Years. Otherwise, in the midst of filling out scholarship stuff and dreading classes on the 6th.

played games with my family!! it was nice. my boyfriend was home sick with pneumonia, so that was too bad 🙁

i decided to start my personal statement pretty much over today.... argh so frustrating hahaha.

He was actually on vacation when he got it, and hadn't seen me for almost 2 weeks by the time his symptoms started. And my symptoms started a week before that. So maybe it was me! But also maybe not.

I know!! I decided to use three patient stories, but realized they all had the same disease after outlining it. I'm not sure if that'll look bad. But those are honestly the ones that stick out to me and I don't want to lie!

lol... a couple years ago I thought the essays and the school list would be the easiest part to this long grueling process... WRONG! I've changed everything a hundred times. I'm slowly getting my stuff together, assuming I don't choke on the MCAT this month I might be okay. I just want one of these schools on my list to love me lol...:xf:

In the same boat. Sending good vibes your way... though the month-long interim between finishing the MCAT and the score release is going to be hell.

Quick question 2019-ers: When is it appropriate to begin asking professors for letters of recommendation? Is this something I ought to be looking into right now, or can I let it slide until Feb/March (so I can continue to panic about the MCAT)?

Oh my god it is seriously the worst. I had nightmares all the time, and was just super super on edge. I didn't stop stressing about it at all ever. The week before scores came out, I was freaking out. It was so hard. I thought for sure I had totally screwed myself over. But after seeing your score and realizing you aren't completely done for... it's a nice feeling haha. Took a lot of stress away, that's for sure. Good luck!! You'll make it through 🙂

I'm going to start asking mid-February I think. I already have all my letter writers picked out.

I guess it is best to ask sooner rather than later... when I was applying for summer programs my LORs came in right at the deadline, even when I asked them months in advance. -___- I don't want to have to go through that kind of stress again.

Lie about the due date. Hence why it's advantageous to ask early. I need letters for a different thing by March 1st, told all my letter writers I needed it by Feb 14th. That way even if they sent it in a few days late it was still in in time.

EDIT: Plus I usually send a "friendly reminder email" about a week out.

This is exactly what I had been considering... thanks for the info!
I have a committee letter (not exactly sure how the committee formulates it) but they stipulate that you have to have your letters and an MCAT score submitted to them by April. All the more motivation not to bomb my January MCAT because I doubt I'd be able to retake in time for April. Eeek.

I'm extremely thankful that they send the committee letter out in June rather than late summer. My heart goes out to all those folks with late-August committee submissions.

Hope you all have a relaxing Friday! (It's ~75 out here on the Left Coast, oh yea.)
