I'll preface this with an immediate rebuttal, "Yes, I'm neurotic."
Since us quarter system-ers are applying for spring classes soon (my registration slot is monday), I thought I'd ask you all your opinions on the following:

I have been in classes for 8 terms now (3 terms/yr) with all terms equal to or exceeding 18.5 credits excluding 1 term of 17 credits. However, next term I only plan on taking 14 credits for the pure and simple fact that I don't have to take many more. (14 this upcoming term, 16,16,15 senior year). I brought in a lot of AP credits, but the only pre-reqs this potentially affects is 1 term of english (3 credits). I currently plan on taking psych 101 as part of my 14term quarter, but could easily swap this for english and be in the exact same standing. According to this plan I will graduate with 238.5 credits (159 equivalent semester credits) including 32 honors credits (and no...I refuse to sign up for more useless honors classes). I'm not very concerned about senior year because those classes will be more time consuming and are easy to explain for the obvious "drop" in effort. Rather I'm concerned with the upcoming (14 credit) term.

All of that said:
I imagine 14 credits is gonna look like I'm slacking off a whole bunch; but frankly after this term I think I deserve a little slacking off next term. Since I can't really say "I just felt like slacking off" as a legitimate excuse to taking fewer classes I've considered the following options. (This is where you vote):

1) I just slack off.:couchpotato:
2) I take english instead of psych, still have 14 credits, still slack off. :meh:
3) I take english on top of psych. 17 credits and a "waste" of psych 101 (I'm not that interested in psych...sorry psych majors )
4) I take either english or psych (14 credits) and start a part-time job that can transition to full time for the summer. (Not my #1 choice, but I'd like to start breaking down my UG debt as much as I can before med school; realistically part-time still won't do much)
5) other ideas?

How did you skip a year (in your case 2 quarters) of English with just AP credits?

I'm missing 1 term. I took 2 terms and got the 3rd off with AP. 3 terms = 1 year.

Must've misread while skimming. 2 quarters should be ok by itself. Just like 2 quarters of lab = "year with lab". Or if you really want, throw in some random humanities course, but it's a waste of time. Psych 101 (upper level is better but whatever) is better

Yea, what stinks is all the upper level courses are restricted to Psych majors only. So I have available to me a hodge-podge of 100-level courses, maybe 1/3rd of the available 200 level courses. Would definitely take Psychology of Sports, but it's writing intensive and I'm just flat out tired of WI classes. It's just gonna be 3 credits of whatever I can do to fill this slot; Psych 101 fit the bill.

Yup. Sucks that chemistry is a crappy major with too much work with little gain. Oh well.

I'd go with 1) or 2). It doesn't matter how many credits you are taking (in terms of application) and it won't affect graduating on time, so why take the extra credits unless you are honestly interested in the course material? Though I'd recommend looking a little harder...there are SO many courses offered that there has to be something you'll enjoy more than psych or english...
If you want to work part-time, it would be a good time to do so. Or you can take a break before what sounds like a full senior year.
Or have you considered taking more 18 credit terms and potentially graduating a quarter early?

I don't think it's possible in @nOchemallday case. Look at his senior year. It's packed!

@LabratABQ bump

Hm etOH is the way to go, it makes everything better hahahahahha i see two screens...that silver oak bottle was delicious...

@nOchemallday, it seems like you have a clear idea of what you want and what you need and often these entities don't line up. In another word, the stars are aligned so let me ask you this question then:
What do you think is best for you and do you think you can follow the decision that you thought it best for you?

To me it seems like you are asking for confirmation rather than information, and it is perfectly ok for us to do that. Not saying this a negative tone, but rather a supportive and positive one. 🙂

p/s: i did not major in psych, however, my senior thesis was in human neuro cognitive psychology and neuroscience lol

Thanks for he thoughts. As for graduating early, I don't think it's possible this late in the program. I have to take a year of senior research for both bio and chem and won't be taking any classes over the summer, but I'm alright with how my senior schedule is shaping up and would rather coast through senior year than pack in more credits.

I think the bolded might state it best. I'm not strongly drawn toward any decision, but I think I've narrowed it down to what decision are available to me. Basically I just have to choose one. In the meantime I've been trying to get some info from other students on alternative class options as per @turayza 's advice. I guess I'll just have to figure it out.

Thanks everyone!

Why I didn't do nothing wrong 🙁 lol

You used a double negative, perhaps @turayza likes boys who use proper grammar. 🙄

Note that I have absolutely no idea what's going on in this thread or what @Agent B is talking about. But wait, @Agent B , which class thread do you really belong to? I'm technically 2018 but may take a year off to do dual degree/research so could be c/o 2019. And I think Labrat and Turayzazaza are neat.

Hey it's a New Mexico thing ok? Don't be jelly and perhaps there was a reason why I intentionally used it hahaha

@turayza thought you didn't have the charisma in @No Limits. Girls LOVE charisma.

I don't know. I had posted in the 2016 thread back in 2012 then proceeded to 2017-2019 in early 2013. Only those threads I post in but I don't know what class I'll be in...

I hope you apply with us. Things are going to get pretty stressful in the next few months, hopefully you will be there stressing with us.

Philosophy is overrated? Plus the people I mentioned have very strong humanities background.
Well this has nothing to do with philosophy and with very strong background in humanities doesnt mean they can answer the questions that only you can.
