I just saw the map. Kinda freaked out a bit when I saw my face. I look scary.

Also, I lost track of where everyone was going forevah ago.

New York is really awesome for the patient population too, as is Miami. They're both way more expensive though, I think.

Miami is expensive, but not near as expensive as people say. I think it's just bc most students choose to live in the most expensive part LOL.

If you're moving from:
Manhattan to miami - you may take a 48% decrease in salary to maintain you're standard of living.
Brooklyn to miami - 35% decrease
San Fran to miami - 33 % decreasef
DC to miami - 20 % decrease
LA to miami - 17% decrease
Chicago to miami - 3.5% decrease

There's tons of calculators out there and everyone's COL will be different due to different types of expenses but it's cool to play with to get general ideas. Chicago looks pretty comparable to Miami interesting!

That'd be nice minus the not having a salary anymore and having to live off loans bit!

Yeah, we've got some random phantoms in the group.

As for everyone else, just check the sidebar and/or map. I CAN'T WAIT TO FILL EVERYONE IN. 🙂 (Get on with the decisions Penguin, Wolv, and Australo cough cough).
What phantoms? 😛
Let's give @Australopithekus sometime. He has a really hard one to make.

Obligatory.

I've been watching the thread all day, didn't have much to contribute. Hope everyone had a great day today!

Yeah. This is why even if Weill Cornell doesn't work out (*whispers* plz take me), at least I'll be able to stay in Miami (at FIU). 🙂

Withdrew from Cornell about a week ago, so I REALLY hope you get my spot! It was such a lovely school. Gah, I would have been such a happy camper there.

Good luck to all you waitlisters! And I really hope joonage bursts into this thread within the next few days with good news. :xf: It's about time.

I'm so happy you're matriculating at Hopkins!

Noob question yall...
Any threads in Allo worth checking out now?

The "what to do with first paycheck" one was pretty entertaining
Minus the n00b comments that clearly showed they didn't know how progressive taxation worked...only an idiot would let the government take 50% or greater from them in taxes.

I'M SO HAPPY, TOO! Gah, I loved SLW there so much. The people were all incredible. Very feels. Much happy.

It feels so good to know what I'll be doing and where I'll be living for the next 4+ years. Good luck to all you guys in the decision-making process! Hope you find a place that feels like home. 😍

Joke's on me cause I have no money to do anything this summer lol, spent it all on app fees.
Seconded. Dressed in rags and playing Boomer guitar songs on the street corner, open guitar case beside me as a plea for donations. Okay, a little exaggerated, but still--I paid thousands for rejections. Kinky booted (out of consideration.) Sigh.

But you do have more than a handful of acceptances! And there's always the possibility of a wait list acceptance!

SDN "forgets" that I am "watching" this thread, so I've missed like three weeks of catching up with all of you and just spent an hour reading through the posts. . .kinda surreal to do that all at once, like a bad-cold Netflix binge on codeine. You kids did misbehave a bit when I was out of the room, but I was so happy to read so much great news! Congratulations on the awesome choices and the courage to make them. I'm off to Brown's Second Look on Friday. . .let's see. It would be very helpful to have the financial aid information as I try to make a life-determining decision!

@Cyberdyne 101 . . . as the Monty Python song preaches, "Always look on the bright side of life!" 🤣Thank you for the optimism and the reality check! (I just love the Drama Queen opportunities!)

I also took this photo from the High Line. Beyoncé was allegedly scoping out the penthouse in this building when she was contemplating the single life this past summer... It's not like I follow celebrity gossip or anything 😳
