Hey guys,
I am trying to figure out the best schedule of classes to make me as competitive as possible for Fall 2010. I took General Chemistry I/II five years ago as an undergrad freshman. I proceeded to make less than savory grades (D+ and C- respectively). My grades showed a marked increase after freshman year and I believe it will be obvious to anyone reviewing my application that I did not fully apply myself my freshman year. Additionally, my school has a reputation for having a very good Chemistry department. Nonetheless, I definitely plan to retake these courses (and know I can ace them). Given that, which situation would be better for taking classes now?
Option 1 (27 credit hours)
Summer Session (11 credit hours)
Biology I (1st Session)
Biology II (2nd Session)
Microeconomics
Fall Session (16 credit hours)
Human Anatomy and Physiology I (1st Session)
Human Anatomy and Physiology II (2nd Session)
General Chemistry I
Calculus I
or
Option 2 (19 credit hours)
Summer Session (7 credit hours)
General Chemistry I
Microeconomics
Fall Session (12 credit hours)
Biology I
Chemistry II
Calculus I
The first option allows me to get more credit hours in a shorter amount of time due to the split term options with the Bio/Human A&P classes. However, the second option allows me to either replace or average my old Chemistry I grade with my new one before I apply for Fall 2010. Additionally, I will have my new Chemistry II grade submitted before the application deadline for most schools.
Which of these options would make me more competitive for Fall 2010? Any advice on my situation would be appreciated!
Thanks,
Chris
