Hi everyone,

I will have all of my prerequisite course load done soon (at least the prerequisite work listed on the UofM site and that which Detroit Mercy suggested) and I want to take as many relevant science classes as possible during this last year before I apply next cycle. My question is, what classes would you guys suggest? So far I have g-chem, orgo, gen bio, cell bio, micro, biochem, plant physiology (I know weird) and a&p under my belt. I'm thinking histology, embryology, and medical and environmental toxicology. Does anything else seem like a better idea to add to my transcript than those last three? Histology is the only class that seems relavant to dentistry....

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
Thanks 🙂

Genetics helps with the DAT

but everything you have already is sufficient .

Some schools recommend/require histology, developmental bio/embryology, and biochem, but it sounds like you've got those covered. You can check the admissions websites of any schools you're particularly interested in to see if they recommend anything else. You might also want to take calculus or stats if you haven't already. I think anything else would be overkill in terms of improving your application.

How about Histology, Pharmacology, Anatomy (gross anatomy with cadaver lab is best), physiology (IMO very important), immunology, hmmmm what else?

I believe the OP's reference to "a&p" is anatomy and physiology.

Other than the sciences, I highly recommend taking some Art classes, particularly sculpting or ceramics. I have been asked during an interview if I have taken any art classes in college or high school.
