I will be an incoming freshman, and just needed a few words of guidance before I begin my pre med journey. Below are my classes, does anyone have any advice or concern, etc? I have two weeks to make a few changes to my schedule. I am a bio major, planning to double major or minor in anthropology.

- Bio (3 credits)
- Bio Lab (1 credit)
- Chem (3 credits)
- Chem lab (1 credit)
- International Relations (3 credits)
- English (3 credits)
Human spirituality (3 credits)
- required university class (1 credit)

Seems like a good schedule! Only thing to think about is the credit hours as an incoming freshman. Depending on the rigor of your university, 18 hours may be challenging. Especially as a freshman getting their feet wet at a time where you should also be looking for clinical volunteering experience, non-clinical volunteering experience, shadowing, research, clubs, etc.. Not saying that you should be participating in these things right away, but something to think about.

All freshmen are ready for a big course load, but many get a rude awakening in college. Good luck though!!!

Seriously don’t try to get too much out the way too early. Trust me adcoms rarely look at your course load unless it’s on or below 12 in ever semester. I would take one of the non science course OR take only one science class. I didn’t take chem my Freshman year I still minored in it. It’s 100% doable. Don’t feel rushedz your gpa is important and starting off light but with a 4.0 is very underrated IMO. That’s what I did and I had a very high gpa compared to my peers because I eased myself in.

Recommend against 18 credits as a first semester freshman. Give yourself a chance to adjust to college life first before going all in credit wise.

FYI, only double major because you want to, not to impress adcoms. Better to have one major with a great GPA than to have two with a meh GPA.

Granted I wasn’t fresh out of high school, but my first quarter was something like Biol 1 + Lab, Chem 3 + lab, Ochem 1, and a humanities class for 18 credits total...**** was rough. Doable if you know what you are doing, but by no means anywhere CLOSE to necessary.

I am going to eco the opinions above and suggest dropping one of the classes. Having gone through similar difficulty, I will say it is NOT worthwhile to try to cram everything in all at once.
