Can someone explain this please...

If the ulnar nerve controls flexion of fouth and fifth digit and median nerve controls flexion of 1-3, how does a dysfunction in the ulnar/median result in claw hand?

Thanks!

its due to imbalance between the intrinsic muscles, resulting in overextension of the affected side, since your fingers are typically flexed, in the instance of a claw hand you have poor/no flexion in the affected region and hyperextension instead. as you attempt to extend the digits, you get MCP hyperextension and PIP flexion typically due to a low median injury.
