Quick question from an M2. I realize lots of people say rotation order doesn't matter in the end, but I'm wondering whether it's worth postponing IM -- even though I would think it makes a good intro to M3, and I'd personally like to get it over with -- to schedule it last and make it do double duty as a Step 2 review when I get there.

I know it's an old argument, the whole early IM vs. late IM thing, but I'm just looking for some fresh opinions. So for you guys who are at that point, what do you think?

No matter what, there is always a rotation that would have helped you on something else in your third year. As far as step 2, I had it first and it had no effect on my score, one of the guys i study with had it last, it didn't effect his score. Third year and step 2 studying is a totally different game than M2/step 1 is which is something you can't really understand until you get there, but in brief you're not super indepth going through the review books etc, it's much more question based typically. From that sense, it doesn't matter when you do it.

Also, if you put your IM rotation at the end with the purpose of it to help you study for step 2 you're already locking yourself into taking your step 2 early, which you may or may not want to do depending on your step 1 score and what you want to go into. Just a thought.

PM me if you want more of my thoughts
