Is the reason we really don't see much about Cleveland State on here because they generally only accept applicants from their undergraduate pre-PT program? They require gross anatomy as a prerequisite, which is offered to their pre-PT students. I'm not sure about all schools, but I know that my university didn't even offer gross anatomy to undergraduates.

I'm just curious because if I do not get accepted this round (as I am a re-applicant) I plan on attending Cleveland State and entering their pre-PT program, then hopefully attending their DPT program as well.

Does anyone have any insight on this?

Thanks!

Just curious, did your undergrad program offer any other Human Anatomy course? Were you able to take Human Physiology? Strange that an undergrad would not be able to access an anatomy course. Anatomy is a pre-req to almost every single DPT program, not just the Cleveland State program, so hopefully you can get some access to the course.

Yeah I was able to take anatomy courses but it was not gross anatomy with a cadaver lab. Maybe I'm confusing the term "gross anatomy" with something else, but I always thought that it included a cadaver dissection. Anyways, the cadaver dissection is needed for Cleveland State, and is offered to their undergrads in the pre-therapy program. My school offered courses in anatomy & physiology with a lab, but they weren't cadaver labs.

My intro to Human Anatomy course was accepted by all the schools I applied to. We had cadavers, but no dissection on the part of the students! I though dissection on cadavers was reserved for graduate-level students only. Anyways, hopefully this wouldn't hinder you from getting into Cleveland State, seeing as how I do not think there are many undergrads that get to dissect a human cadaver.

You could be right about it being only reserved for graduate students. They're the only school I've seen (and I'm pretty sure I've looked at every school on PTCAS at least once) that requires there to be a cadaver lab. My A&P labs had other dissections, but no cadavers, not even for undergrads to look at. That's the reason I'm thinking that the DPT program at Cleveland State mainly accepts students who did their undergrad pre-PT program.

I just really want that in-state tuition! And CSU is definitely already on the lower-cost side of the PT school spectrum.

Cleveland State's program doesn't start until January. So I'm pretty sure if you completed your undergrad at another school, you would just start at CSU in the fall and finish up their specific pre reqs before you start the PT program in January.
