Hey Guys...

I am transferring as a result of family relocation😕...I got accepted into the state university over there and a LOCAL liberal art college...
The State university is at least 2 hours away from home and I didn't get a full ride (OOS tuition is ridiculous!!!)...so here is the money issue...but state college (like the one I am transferring from) usually got reputation and resources...
The Liberal Art is not bad ( top 10 in the south I think?)..And the thing is that I got a full-ride and I get to live at home and all that good stuff by staying with your folks...you name it (plus..I am broke..) The con is that resource (for research, internship, etc) and reputation is definitely a disadvantage for medical school admission...
I have a 4.0 GPA right now (finished all my requisites)..and will work extra hard for MCAT...

----------------------------------------------------------------
blah blah blah...

So...will good GPA/MCAT make up for a not so reputable UG?

I love this forum..some feedback PLEAZZZZZ..

your school doesnt matter. do well on your MCAT and keep you the GPA and youll get in anywhere you want if you partiicpate in ECs and apply early.

Have you ever heard of my undergrad? I still got into a top 3 med school.

Keep that GPA up and destroy those mcats and you'll have nothing to worry about.

VCU isn't that out of the blue. I got to see them play UCLA in the tourney. maynor is a beast

I quickly checked your profile after your reply..lol...
I wish I was in your shoes...you got a lot of research which I am lack of ..wonderful!!

it's a lot more complicated than just ugrad, gpa/mcat, and ec's, but having great #'s help a great deal.

A good application (which is more than GPA/MCAT, you need EC's too) will make up for a lack of reputation, a negative reputation, and any other kind of reputation. I went to party school central, and I can only assume it didn't hurt me. I got interviews at many of the Top 10, and I would assume that if my school was a problem I wouldn't havr gotten that far even. One of the adcom members at Harvard said so, at least. Didn't get in, but I did get my top choice so ultimately I am happy that I went to undergrad where I did.

Dude I know! Too bad we're losing him this year to the draft, Joey Rodriguez is transferring, and we lost coach Grant to Alabama. We are still going to be strong in the CAA but nationally, we might not get quite so far in the next couple of years.
