Hey everyone, I'm finishing up the app today. So far I haven't said "yes" for the question about "have you ever been suspended, expelled....because of academic performance"...would you click 'yes' for "academic warning"? There aren't really any disciplinary measures associated with it...it's just a warning.

yes

i would click no. 😎

1stly they probably do not check

2ndly they didn't ask you for warning 😉

Does it specifically ask about academic warning? It's one thing to be warned. . .it's another where they are not allowing you to attend school.

I would say no unless it specifically asks. If you get a warning by a police officer for speeding, do you tell your insurance company? No. If you get a ticket, you do though. It's one thing to say, "Watch it, you are in trouble and better shape up," and quite another to say, "You're expelled or suspended."

That's what I thought. It doesn't list 'warning' specifically, it says "otherwise been subject to disciplinary action", so I wasn't sure if 'warning' somehow fits under that. It's not like I'd be hiding it, it's written on my transcript, I just don't think it applies to the question. I have addressed my early academic performance in my PS, I just don't want them to think I'm trying to hide it.

I think everyone who goes to college is already inherently warned not to screw around and get bad grades so I wouldn't put it. I think in your case they are just giving you a friendly reminder of this. You may have forgotten, I mean our freshman years were almost a life time ago.

Nope. I don’t really want to go to any of those schools listed except for MCG. Most are safety school and others are just so I can brag if I get in and reject the acceptance. Man I hope no addcom's look at this post.

HAHHAAH. Well good luck to you. I hope you get in to your first choice. :luck:

May have forgotten...my freshman year was 1990. I have no memory whatsoever of the volleyball class that's listed on my transcript...or a few others.

I agree that a warning is different than a suspension, which I believe the question is asking. If your studies were not interrupted then I would say 'no.'

I had to call AADSAS about something else...and they said 'no' as well.

I definately wouldn't put a yes, especially for a warning. But that warning is on your permanent record and any graduate school that wants to look at that record will see it if they request it, but my advisor said that he's never heard of dental schools checking up on this if you put no... and actually he advised me to put no for mine. On top of my warnings i had to do community service for the campus...but no suspension, no expulsion, no clicking yes. : )

Yeah, sometimes it's good to click 'no'...however, the warning is listed on my transcript so they're going to see it if they look. I'm worried about the grades more than the warning.

same here, and that is my LAST semester senior year (the semester most frequently looked at). I have a bloody 1.5 for that semester (used to be a consistant 3.2 for every prior semester)... thats why i had to do the masters program and get a 3.5 GPA.

and i also put "no". my education was not disrupted, and i still graduated that semester (didnt need any of those courses to graduate).

I had a distrubance in my dorm freshman year. a friend of mne brought alcohol in the dorms, and got caught with it. as a result, i got a written warning not being responsible for my guests. I put it on the application and explained that i didnt get a disciplinary action, but just a written warning. The dean of UF dental said that schools do check. And if you list no, and get caught, they could revoke your acceptance. Also they like if you are honest up front even if it is something so minor.
