Hey,
I know everyone says Cliff AP bio is a must have for the DAT so I just dug up my copy from several years ago. Its the 2nd edition--anyone familiar with the different editions? Think the 2nd edition will do or should I get the newest one?

Thanks!

hey swimming, i was using cliffs but then i bought barrons (a lot of people used it to study) barrons is 1000x better than cliffs. theres a picture on nearly every page and the concepts seem to be explained in a clearer way. in addition datqvault.com has questions that are on par with the real DAT and can easily be answered from barrons ap bio. at least thats my opinion after comparing both of them.

Hey,
Do you use Barrons AP bio or just read the Barrons section of Barrons DAT? Is Barrons better than Kaplan?

While I have never used any of barrons resources I have heard many, many people state that they use barrons AP bio and NOT the bio section from general DAT barrons.

I have the KBB... I'm not too impressed with it.

Barrons AP bio, its $12 on amazon.com. Do not use Barrons DAT, i heard thats crap lol

I have both cliffs AP bio and barrons AP bio. They compliment each other really well. Cliffs I think OVER does some of the descriptions, however, occasionally thats exactly what you need to get material into your head. One thing I would absolutely recommend, and I don't think people do this enough. Go directly to the back and read the glossary definitions word for word. This accomplishes 2 things in my opinion. 1) Gives you a pretty good idea of where your strengths and weaknesses are. If you know exactly what the definition is, then you have a pretty good foundation to build on. 2) If you have zero clue on what the definition of something is, or if it is a word you have never seen before, you learn what it is real quick. Even if you sort of forget it, by the time you get the the section of the book that is talking about the topic you don't know, you are already familiar with the meaning of the word. Just my opinion. But I think the second edition will do, just don't use it as your only biology resource.
